Rise of the Tomb Raider on Win10 Achievements Not Unlocking

Guys, I've found the solution, but you ain't going to like it. Some genius (on TrueAchievements can't remember name exactly) hinted that it might be a cloud save issue. I tested the theory out, started RotTR and purposely applied pressure on my router so
I could lag a bit and get a little time to cancel the save sync when starting a game. Upon starting the game from complete scratch, we're talking wiped Expedition Cards, creds and the lot, I shed a tear of joy. Achievements began to unlock, with 98% unlock accuracy
which is abs excellent (and better than what most can say on the Xbox One version). Occasionally it'd skip something, and I suspect it to be a network issue that held me back. So I simply made sure my network was in perfect condition and tried again, sure
enough it unlocked.

It seems the achievement system is heavily reliant on our networks than we've come to realise, much like the Xbox One in its early days. For those of you super upset about having to delete your cloud save and having to restart from scratch, I will note this:
Although when I started again there was no previous save to speak of, the following day when I went back to play again, I saw that my #2 and #3 saves from before the cloud save deletion was still there (I had overwritten #1) . Made me wonder what would happen
if I deleted the cloud save, started a new game and saved in a free slot instead. Would be interesting to see if achievements still worked on those older local saves after cloud save deletion.

In any case, there's your possible answer gents, I've only done this with RotTR, but I'm willing to bet it'll work on other games as this solution was placed originally on a forum for Fire: Ungh's Quest.

For those of you thinking or hoping Xbox Support will actually acknowledge and fix our problem one day, I'll say this. It's been almost a year since RotTR's release and we've heard and seen nothing to attempt to fix this. Until people like Larry Hyrb or
Mike Ybarra hit these kind of problems (which I really hope they do), you can bet your *** we're alone on this. So be super careful about the state of your network connection when going for achievements, especially for games such as ReCore, cause there's nothing
worse than getting 299/300 collectibles on the Xbox App when in game counter is at 300 :/

Following up on Narudian post above, I finally got around to trying again to get my glitched achievements to unlock for RotTR in Win10.

As you know, the original problem occurs when an achievement doesn't unlock for some reason having to do with the MS system and then cannot be unlocked thereafter. Uninstalling/reinstalling the game and starting a new game will not cure the issue. The
cause is not based on a particular achievement. It can happen with any achievement. The problem is also not exclusive to RotTR.

I finally, got my stuck achievements unlocked via the following process. I made sure to do this after I had unlocked everything else. I knew I was going to have to start a new game so I had nothing to lose.

1. Deleted all save games.

2. Uninstalled/reinstalled the game.

3. Go to "Windows Settings" and enter search for "Apps & Features" and select.

4. Select game (e.g. Rise of the Tomb Raider) and select "Advanced options."

5. Select "Reset."

6. Start game - window should pop up indicating game data is "syncing."

7. Cancel "syncing." Disregard warning.

8. Play through to achievements and they should unlock.

Note: The first time I tried resetting the game, I did not delete the save games, uninstall/reinstall and I let the data sync. The achievements still did not unlock. It's possible that all these extra steps are not necessary, but I don't know which ones.
I believe cancelling the "syncing" is most important. I also played through to the achievement without closing and restarting the game. I was worried that the game data may sync on its own if I closed and restarted.

Anyway, these steps finally worked for me after more than a year of this problem. Hope this information helps someone else.

Redoing "The Sound of Silence" (for carrying the modified Lancer) achievement on the One did unlock the achievement. So, it appears that the Win10 glitched achievement issue does not apply to Gears 4. However, this may only be because the game does a
rescan/reunlock of achievement when new ones are unlocked. This is just a halfassed theory but I say this because the Completionist achievement popped at the moment I was unlocking other achievements playing a different mode (horde). The underlying inconsistency
in my profile still exists because the summary screen in the game still indicates that I have only 48 collectibles while all 50/50 collectibles are actually shown on the listing pages in the game.

Perhaps the software developers could correct these problems, e.g. Ubisoft for Rise of the Tomb Raider, on their end?

I'm following up on my original post 9 months ago to add a few items.

I recently returned to Rise of the Tomb Raider because the new DLC came out. I also checked to see if the glitched achievements would unlock now. They still won't.

In addition, I can now add some new glitched achievements that have just occurred with Gears of War 4 for me. Gears of War 4 employs a synchronized achievement list, like Quantum Break. I foolishly opted to play some of the campaign for Gears 4 on Win
10. During that session, I completed getting all the collectibles (which should have unlocked "Completionist") and also carried the customized lancer to the end of Act V, Chapter 2 (which should have unlocked "The Sound of Silence"). In both cases, neither
achievement unlocked. In addition, returning to the Xbox One and "redoing" The Sound of Silence did not unlock the achievement. I could not redo Completionist because my War Journal shows that I have all the collectibles even though the achievement is not
unlocked. (Interestingly though, the Summary page indicates I only have 48 collectibles despite 50/50 collectibles shown in the actual collectible list.)

Bottom line is that this system issue persists and no on at MS has figured out why it is happening. Short of figuring out "why" it is happening, I had hoped that MS would release a "tool" of some kind that would allow their tech support to manually unlock
achievements that they can confirm should be unlocked, such as story-related achievements or this collectible achievement where I can show that I have all of them.

I'll send a follow up message to Misses Quinzel who I believed was to be our champion at MS regarding this issue.

yeah it is a common problem it seems.. I for myself cannot unlock any achievement either in Quantum Break on Windows 10.

The Xbox App tracks the played time just fine, just everything else isn't tracked and shown including achievements of course.

I'm adding this link to another related thread - this issue applies to xbox on win10 games generally - not just Rise of the Tomb Raider. This corroborates the statement from Square Enix that the issue is not on their end.
