    @justathereptile Yeah Cinder is an obvious choice for an air dash, but as he also one of the few characters in the cast that suits zoning to a tee (pyrotechnics etc) the air dash does not really fit there.

    Maybe it would be best going to a new cast member.

    I agree that Riptor really does need to be a hand to hand fighter of some kind, whether it is up-in-the-face rushdown or more based around pokes and more mid range attacks.

    I just don't want to see her with a projectile being a coward on the other side of the screen. That tactic has made me literally hate the sight of Jago, and I love Riptor.

    Two ways they can go with Riptor:

    Either A they go down the more humanoid route and you get a character similar to Reptile fr MK DA

    Then you have B where they go to the other end of the slider and make her more lizard/reptile/dino etc.

    I will be so disappointed if she is not a straight up lizard/dinosaur. Who doesn't love dinosaurs? A reptoid human would be a major let down.

    @Stefraki yeah, I would get more that upset if they change her into some half humanoid thing, the only thing Riptor had from being a hybrid was the intelligence, and it should stay that way

    Indeed Riptor needs to be up close considering her aggressive nature.

    Also, I highly doubt Ken Lobb would even allow them to make Riptor walk upright.

    Seriously, they may have made Glacius look more alien, But I guarantee Riptor will still be the hunched over Dinosaur humanoid we know her as.

    I honestly want her to be savage and in your face kind of fighter, the speed and power she had was amazing in previous games, However I still feel like she needs her fire venom back the best way to do this: Make it midrange shotgun blast like Fulgore.

    I do HATE the idea of her being another Arial based fighter like Sadira since everyone else has anti-air attacks it really doesn't help that she has to rely on air attacks. She should be a rush down, but I do feel like Riptor needs stuff to differentiate
    her from Sabrewulf and probably Cinder who'll end up being

    Here's hoping Riptor will fill in the savagery in her fighting style that Sabrewulf can't even fathom I do think one of the cool things they can take from Riptor's moves in KI1: the attacks where she can do her rake kick and do the tail flip from the air.
    That would be a uniqe ability that can be retained.

    As for colors I hope we get a red Riptor and a blue one to!

    @stefraki cinder better fits rushdown, his only move that's a projectile(inferno was slow and TERRIBLE at best. I can imagine him being an air based fighter WAY better than Riptor honestly.

  9. I find the red and Blue color will be two things I want to see. If they don't give me a blue one then I'll settle for whats close enough to blue.

    @JEFFRON27 I think more about a character design/powers/story than I do their past iteration when I think about what archetype they should be. We should take it as read that since every character in the original game was very samey, some of their styles
    are going to be changed dramatically, but DH made a good effort at keeping their core nature - based on the design, story and moves - intact.

    With his pyrotechnic abilities allowing the game designers to pretty much pick whatever zoning tools they want from the locker, I can't see them wasting that opportunity on making him rush down. What other character has the most natural excuse to be a ranged
    character than someone who can create and control fire?

    I like your idea of keeping Riptor's acid but limiting it by range. Another option is that the acid could be her instinct and could have some venomous effect on the opposing character that increase the more times you hit them with it - i.e. slowing down
    their walk speed, stopping them from blocking, reducing the height of their jumps, filling their KV meter so when they started a combo they had less ability to build it (not all of them of course, just one).

    @stefraki that may indeed be true, I can imagine they'd end up ticking ALOT of Cinder fans off, but hey I guess that would be nice to take advantage of his fire abilities

    I only hope they either fix is inferno move or make it better cause that moved SUCKED the only time I ever used it by accident. Given a choice I NEVER used it if I could help it.

    Back on Riptor that's a good idea. I'd love it if that was the case in Instinct mode.

    The same routine has happened with every single character reveal and will continue to happen until they are all out.

    "X was rushdown in the original games, they HAVE to rushdown this time"

    Well the game would be a steaming pile of manure if they slavishly followed the original games template of every character. All have been changed to some extent - Jago least and Glacius and Thunder most - and its been for the good of the game.

    Everyone seems to understand that the game needs a balance of archetypes and that means some characters need to change drastically, but there is resistance with every individual character when conversation comes to it.

    At the end of the day the nostalgia warrior super fans are a tiny vocal minority. I want the characters to be true to the essence and story of the originals, but in terms of fighting styles - everything needs to change. I have nostalgia for the old games
    too, but not to the extent that it blinds me to the fact that by todays standards it was below par and every character was basically the same. Everything needs to change.

  14. Yeah they are likely giving characters a archetype based on their move sets, or what they find would be logical.

    I think that the term nostalgia warrior should be changed to describe those who think that his new game is automatically bad for not being a clone down to the very pixel or code of the original.

    Come to think of it, those people wanted a "remake" and this KI is defiantly not!, a remake.

    Back on topic. I think Riptor should have a mix of rushdowna and another to work things out. I would suggest sadira but they may not be necessary. I also can't wait to see what they come up with for her design. As a huge Riptor fan, I welcome the possibilities.
    The only thing I don't want her default skin to have is feathers. But if they are going to add feathers they should keep them at a minimum. By that, I mean keep the feathers on the elbows and ankles. If they do however cover the body in feathers I'll just
    settle with the classic outfit when it releases. On the plus they can always add feathers as an accessory for those who do want them.

    Either way I will not have much to complain about. Riptor Thread :)

    Well I wouldn't consider myself a nostalgia warrior, as I actually loved what they did with Glacius' gameplay and the like, and I loved Thunder's new look.

    While they did do an excellent job with Glacius as a zoner he did have the benefit on the fact that he would most likely use moves like that as he did do ice construct attacks in the previous games.

    I suppose the idea of Cinder being a zoner just seemed odd to me considering his only projectile was the worst of all his moves, but you're right on a few things:

    1- They can't go entirely on the previous game's iteration of Cinder to use for his moves.

    2- Going back on the Glacius argument, Glacius can use ice constructs to attack his enemies from afar Cinder can basically do the same thing but with fireball streams.

    3- Fulgore was probabaly the best example of this and he is my favorite. When Fulgore was thought to be a zoner I was very skeptical because what I loved about him was that he had a huge arsenal of weapons, and being a zoner usually ment very poor close
    combat which was what I think those claws on his arms were meant for. Well guess what: He is a zoner, BUT he is also good at close combat if ya do it right, he has ALL his moves and tools, and I've recently improved a lot because I've been getting a 3-5 winning
    streak a day before I get my hat handed to me. So yeah

    Going by this logic you are right, Cinder might need to be a zoner, I'm sure he'll be able to keep all his other moves but I expect he won't be as fast as he use to be in the previous games but in the name of diversity that might be a reasonable sacrifice.
    Instinct mode could probably give him a dash and such and perhaps also have a "burning effect which will last for a few moments and only burn at least 1-2 bits of damage per second.
