Ripping a cd on 360 to a usb stick?

Sorry Drizzle J this is not what I wanted to know, what i wanted to know was if you can rip a CD to my USB stick using my xbox 360 console.

You cannot transfer music to the Xbox with a USB stick. The only way is by Ripping a CD to the Xbox directly or purchasing via Zune/Xbox Music. It formatted your USB stick erasing all content which is why your MP#'s disappeared.

I believe what happened here was that you put files on a USB stick, then formatted that USB stick to work on a Xbox 360. In that case it would erase all the date on it as it was trying to format the device. The above posters are correct as well. In order
to move songs to your Xbox 360 hard drive, you will need to rip a CD to do that. Hope this clears things up and explains where your song files went. Thanks!

aperenty you can find the update on the internet and then install it or on a cd hope this helps

How to install:

1.) Unrar the download

2.) Copy the $SystemUpdate folder to the root of a CD or USB Stick (The memory stick must be FAT or Fat32 formatted)

3.) Insert the CD or USB Stick into your Xbox 360 console.

4.) You will be automatically prompted to update with a USB stick, with a CD / DVD it should say Mixed Media Disc, power down the 360 and power it on again. You should be ask to update before the 360 boots to the dashboard.

5.) Once the update is complete your Xbox 360 will restart then boot up to the new dashboard. Enjoy!

They don't work in the way you think.

You can play music from them because the 360 sees them in the exact same way it sees a USB stick, in that it thinks they are just a storage device. You can't transfer music from them to the 360's hard drive though, the only way to do that is by ripping from
a CD.
