If it didn't kill in one hit it would be absolutely useless, good for about one kill before dying. It's a silly killstreak that the game would actually be better off without but if it stays it pretty much has to be a one-hit kill.

Over the last few days I have noticed that when wearing a flak jacket the dog doesn't seem to one hit kill you... almost acts like you have a shield, lunging but bouncing back...

 

@CSB--I havent seen a K9 rip any throats out in MP. Its always jumping and grabbing at the arm or jumping on someones back, but as I said, I guess its a balance issue. I wonder if you equipt a "vest" as above stated, if that helps. And what if you equipt
a vest and you call in a dog, if that will be like a vest on the dog also?

 

The vest does prevent a one-hit kill by a dog, yes. No, the dog does not pick up and put on a vest when you have both vests and a dog.

That reminds me of a couple of cut scenes from GTA V.

 

I think they should have made a counter option if you get attacked by the dog, but a hard counter so people still get killed, but that actually gives you a chance.

Its dumb that when a dog kills you, it gives any death animation. Even the headshot death animation. You fall backwards...

 

CoD has had the same crap death animations since CoD4. I don't think we'll be seeing any changes to them till the new engine in 2015.

 

There's only so many ways you can fall down after getting shot. Maybe they'll add in some nice animation in the new engine.
