Rigging up a headset

So in theory if I were to take an old headset of mine and cut the aux cord off, and take an old pair of apple headphones and cut the aux cord off (both work fine, headsets frame is broke and super glue doesnt do the job) and splice the aux cord of the headset
to the ear buds of the apple headphones would I have a working headset that could be used for audio and chat?

Yeah, I really want to Frankenstein them, but if it doesnt work as planned I'll be out a pair of my wifes earphones which she will be PO'd about lol

When I look up the Plantronics RIG 100HX it is a gaming headset not just a microphone so it is picking up that you plugged in a headset and making an adjustment.

Are you plugging in a gaming headset and only wanting the microphone to work on it?

I'm using RIG 400 HX and i'm in love with this headset. Maybe in near future I'll buy RIG 800 LX
