Ridiculous game & system update download speeds

For the life of me I cannot figure out why my Xbox One downloads SO incredibly slow. It doesn't matter whether it's system updates, or the Battlefield beta I'm currently downloading. I've tried wireless and of course I've tried wired, and no matter what
the Xbox is topping out at pulling ~3.8 Mb of my 30 Mb internet line...and this is with no other devices using the network, either. I've forwarded ports, have a completely open NAT, and have even tried plugging it directly into my modem and thereby skipping
my router entirely. Nothing makes any difference and this kind of download speed is absolutely bonkers.

    :)

    Ridiculous download speed

I have Verizon Fios with 150/150 and my console is hardwired to the router. When I have an update or try to download a game, my xbox downloads it at a mere 8-12mbps. If I run a network speed test from the xbox, it confirms my 150/150mbps. Why am I waiting
hours for updates and downloads when I have a great wired connection??? Microsoft needs to step up their game. This doesn't seem like new news....

Downloads slow down and eventually stop

I'm having the same issue in the UK since the last system update... other equipment connected to my network gives my usual speeds of 40Mbps.

The Xbox One (original) now usually struggles to download any game or updates faster than 1-2Mbps. Occasionally I will get lucky & it will download at full speed, but only rarely.

Like others on the thread, this only started since the last system update, everything was fine before.

I have a BT Homehub 3 which has always performed fine in the past with both my Xbox 360 & Xbox One, both via wireless & Ethernet. I've tried the Google DNS servers as well as my standard ISP ones & it makes no difference.

Reached out to Xbox support via Twitter several times & not a single response, completely ignored.

It was the same way on the 360, and from what I've gathered reading various posts on the issue its all about your location and the servers you are connected to.

Also as far as the speeds your getting, bandwidth speeds usually has very little to do with actual transfer speeds of servers regardless of what platform your on, that's why many software companies have gone to more of a torrent style setup that has you
download small pieces from lots of places instead of one large file from a singular location.

Also if you tested using the Xbox Ones test tool, that thing is way off, better to use Internet Explorer on the One and use a speed testing website.

An open, moderate, or strict NAT has nothing to with your estimated bandwidth, in transit between the ISP and end user neworking equipment. NAT is simply put, a transparent boundary that segements your internal network from an external network, where private
IP addresses can't be traversed to the Internet-at-large, without first being translated to a routable public IP and port, and to "allow" an internal, external binding, for subsequent traffic from the outside, and back into your local network.

It doesn't matter if you're using your PC, or as Richiestang78 suggested, "Internet Explorer on the One", to perform a speedtest of your connection, using your console, as long as these tests are based on the best ping, against a testserver. Whenever you
run a basic IP connectivity test (ping), along with the test to measure your download- and upload -speed, using your Xbox One, the roundtrip time is measured against a server located in Seattle, WA. So, if you go about to perform a similiar test, using your
PC, then change the server your testing against, to a server located in Seattle, WA.

    download speed

The speed of your internet has a big impact on the time it take to download/install games and system updates. The games are large and if your internet speed is minimal in can take a lot of time. What is the speed of your internet?

    Ridiculously slow download speeds . . .

    HI There

What i would look at is the DNS setup that you have on your xbox, as well to make sure you are on Cable and not Wifi

Although the Google DNS servers are generally fast, they are also really busy.

What i would recommend is using a combination of DNS (1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8) on your console.

    Ridiculously slow download speeds . . .

I second this. I have around 500mbps download speed though am currently sat at kbps trying to download the latest MW update.

This is not a new issue unfortunately, and have tried all the same methods to resolve this without success. It makes no sense 😕
