  1. REVIEW: Far Cry 4: Valley of the Yetis [FAR CRY 4 DLC)

Please note: This review may contain spoilers. Sorry for the long review.

Love the missions! Hate the "Nights".

Having the right weapons and health syringes are HIGHLY NEEDED in this DLC.. if you don't have it.. you might as well not even give this DLC a chance. Why? Because after returning to the Relay Station after missions you have to
survive the night by protecting the Relay Station for getting blown up while dogging all kinds of things. The first night is not bad, second night is okay. The third night is where it becomes hard... the fifth and final night is just a cluster.. well you know
    the second word!

Each night you have fend off two to three "waves" of attackers, stopping them from planting bombs, while avoiding getting shot, burned, knifed, and all at the same time.

The fifth and final night though.. your first wave starts off slightly easy.. then the first Yeti comes.. and boy are this guys hard to beat. Not only do they drain like 98% your health in one hit. They are also fast.. and this
is where you'll need your health syringes. If you ran out, you might as well kiss your bum-bum goodbye. Also when running from the Yeti's you have to stop the other attackers from planting bombs.. which can be three once..
one on the roof, the other on the side, and the other farther away from the station. And in order to kill the Yeti.. you have to use a powerful gun and hope to get head shots, or blow him up using C4, which will "stun" him. Then you have to do a behind attack,
which gives you a quick time event either pressing X, A, or B quickly and if you are a few seconds too late the just throws you off and nearly kills you. And if you are out of syringes, healing takes a long time as you know
and he the Yeti is not far behind you so even if you heal on bar.. he'll hit you again by the time you are done. Even if you manage to do the quick time event fast enough then animation takes so long which if an attacker is planting bombs at more then one
location you will more then likely fail the mission (each bomb takes 20 seconds from them to plant) which may seem long but when you are running for two yetis, heavies, flame-seekers, and knifers it's just far too much.

This DLC could have been fun.. but it's just too overloaded with attackers and Yetis.

    3.5 out 10.

    :)

  4. REVIEW: Far Cry 4: Valley of the Yetis [FAR CRY 4 DLC)

Interesting review! Too bad I don't have the game. If you don't mind me asking how is the game as a whole? It's 1 I've definitely been considering...

  5. So wait, this DLC is essentially a horde mode, is that what you're telling me here?

I thought we'd be going on some mountain adventure with a story and like hunting Yeti's n thangs?

  6. @Galactic Geek - Far Cry 4 in itself (not including the DLC) is definitely in my top 3 favourite games for XBOX ONE. If you played and enjoyed Far Cry 3.. you will like this one. I suggest you get it.

@DigitalAssassin - Not horde-mode per-say, just the "Night" missions are kind of overwhelming based on my feelings other people might say it's easy.. some might say it's not. Other then the "Night" missions the game plays pretty much the same as Far Cry
4 missions go.. you gotta go collect this, kill these guys.. it goes on.

UPDATE ON REVIEW: After watching a video on the "Fifth Night" mission I was able to kill the two Yeti's much faster and easier.. once the Yeti's are out of the picture it's pretty much a cake walk from there.

Updated Personal Score: 6.5 out 10.

  7. ^Haha, wut? Your score just practically doubled from (what I can see) no where!? Hahaha.

Oh ok, I misunderstood, so you really only reviewed the 'night missions' then? I'm definitely going to get this, just not sure when.

  8. REVIEW: Far Cry 4: Valley of the Yetis [FAR CRY 4 DLC)

@DigitalAssassin - I learned not to make reviews right after you rage at a game. Next time I won't be so quick to review.

Here are a few things you should know.

    1. If I remember correctly and I will update you for sure when I pop it back in there is only 5 Night Missions. And six or seven story missions.

    2. There is not a lot of side missions.. just a bunch of steal this truck to gain more supplies and goodies to better protect your Relay Station.

    3. There is a few "Assassination" missions.. but they are so easy there is really no point to them.

    4. To upgrade your weapons/ammo/meat pouches you have to do both skinning animals and finding skin chests (loot chest with animal skins). I still was unable to find the Clouded Tiger Skin Chest so I couldn't upgrade my ammo bag fully.. but I really didn't
    need to.

    5. There are various weapons spread throughout the map for you to unlock.. once unlocked you still need to purchase them in your safehouse (Relay Station) or get buy them for that dude that walks around.

    6. The map is small to medium-ish size so your run into enemies, wild animals, and Yeti very often.

    7. You do get access to two vehicles in the game ski-doos and jeeps. That's it (from what I found).

    8. Any upgrades made in Far Cry 4 regular game will NOT transfer over to The Valley of The Yeti's DLC..

I hope this info helps you or anyone else that is planning on buying ($15.00) this DLC.

  9. Yes, that gave me a much better understanding of the scope of this DLC.

Once last questions, as you've said the upgrades need to be redone, are you a different character from the main campaign? I want to know how they justify doing the upgrades again, haha.

  10. @DigitalAssassin - No, you are still AJay Gale same as in the main campaign. However you do obtain skill points/earn XP much more quickly. One Yeti kill is 3,500XP.

  11. Not bad, so are the upgrades different to the main campaign? It's just I love DLC's that let you use your fully levelled character and when you can't, it's normally because it's a completely different character or something. I'm just trying to fathom why
I can't have my previous upgrades especially when you tell me of these night missions.

  12. @DA - I was kind of disappointing that upgrades didn't transfer over. I still suggest you play it. By the time you get to the "Third Night" you should have a good amount of things upgraded.
