Revert to an actual working Xbox voice command mode

So my usual Pre-Cortana Netflix ritual was to say

Xbox On

Xbox Goto Netflix

Xbox Select

Xbox Next List/Play 1/etc...

When I activated the Cortana anti-feature I found that that Netflix integration didn't work anymore, so I turned off the Cortana anti-feature. "Xbox On" and "Goto Netflix" still work, but Xbox Select no longer pulls up the possible commands. How do I get
the Xbox One voice activation to work again?

Can you clarify which voice commands aren't working? There isn't an option to revert to the previous update, but we're happy to offer alternatives to any issues you're having.

 

Is there any timetable as to when Microsoft is reintroducing working voice control?

If you go into the settings section and disable Cortana the console will switch back to the legacy Xbox voice commands.

If, for whatever reason, Cortana isn’t what you want, you have the option to go back to the original voice control model using the "Xbox" command. When you switch, here’s what you’ll lose:

Headset voice control

Expanded commands and voice recognition

Voice-to-text input (dictation)

You can bring back Cortana at any time.

To revert to the original voice control model:

Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Settings > All settings.

Select System > Cortana settings.

In the snapped window on the right, highlight the On switch, and press the A button to turn it to Off."

 

You need to say hey cortana instead xbox

 

I specifically said I turned off Cortana because it doesn't work at all, if you turn on Cortana and say, "Hey Cortana Select" while in Netflix it does absolutely nothing. If you say "Hey Cortana Next List" it chooses to Google Next List rather than go to
the next list. I want to go back to the built in Xbox voice commands that used to work, but after disabling Cortana, they only partially work. How do I get that feature to work again?

 

Same deal here, it is so frustrating.. overall Cortana seems to understand the words i use for voice commands better, however there seem to be no commands for Netflix other than initially loading it up.

I load it up and then voice commands simply do web searches for "<my name>" or "profile one" one or "select". I have to hunt for my remote or a controller to get beyond the initial profile screen.

Understanding what words i say better than before is great, however it's useless if it does not do what is needed to be done.

 

Hey guys I know this seems frustrating but as new updates roll out Cortana will get better in time since this is new to Xbox one they will improve her voice ability.

 

Select mode just appears not to work, and this would be fine except they appear to have also regressed this in legacy xbox mode as well.

Try the repro steps:

1. Say either "xbox" (in legacy mode) or "hey cortana" in (cortana mode)

2. Say "select" (in cortana mode can also try"Make a selection" or "Turn on select mode" as described here:

support.gtm.xbox.com/.../cortana-voice-commands )

3. Try saying something on screen

Expected:

Entered a select mode where you can set items on screen

Outcome:

Select mode doesn't appear to be entered, both on screen can be said to select it.

 

I am having a similar problem with Netflix as well as Hulu, but Amazon Video and Youtube work just fine. I have tried everything and nothing helps. This has happened before, it always seems to happen after an update. I hope Microsoft is aware of this
and is working to fix it.

 

Was this ever fixed? Cortana broke answering Skype calls on my parents xbox one S, and reversion to xbox left it broken, with 'xbox answer' no longer being a command, and 'xbox open that' just opening a menu. My parents are too old to play around with
a controller trying to select items in a list to answer a call...

I didn't see anywhere, prior to trying out Cortana, that reverting to xbox voice commands didn't actually work correctly...

 

Are you all still having this issue in Netflix / Hulu? I definitely am. Contacted support who read some of these threads (I gave them links during online chat) and said that some of the issues were resolved by sending Kinect for repairs. My Kinect is out
of warranty so i didn't do it.

My question is . . . are people actually using "Xbox Select" commands successfully in Netflix / Hulu now?

This issue has been ongoing for at least three years. spent the better part of four days going back and forth on the phone with Netflix and Microsoft about a year ago, was told that they were aware of the issue, as it was 2 years old at that point, and never
got any farther than Microsoft blaming Netflix, or Netflix blaming Microsoft.

I personally do not think this is something they will ever fix. I plan to leave Xbox very soon. it is just far too limiting. Will be building my own custom gaming rig, with voice commands that work lol.

My uncle is a Quadriplegic, and used to heavily really on his kinect for netflix. the only reason he really bought is tbh. He hasn't used it for the better part of a year.

Microsoft doesn't put effort into fixing their issues. they've already sold you their product lol. they'll 'repair' it for you lmfao for a price too funny.
