    Returning to Xbox Live after several years - Recover Gamertag?


    Hi all. I was curious if any of you could help me recover my prior gamertag? When I sign in now it shows my gamertag as RetiringHalo399. I know how to change my gamertag but was curious if there was any way to recover my old one that I used with my 360.

    If you weren't using that email to login to any other Microsoft products, then the account would have been seen as inactive and the gamertag released.

    It's been around 8-10 years. I tried to change my gamertag to my old one but it wouldn't allow me to do so. Yes I am using the same email address.

    Are you using the same email address that you used to sign in on the 360?

    Also how long ago is it since you last used a Microsoft product? I ask this as they release gamertags from inactive accounts.

    My Xbox Live passcode has been forgotten!

    I've recovered my gamertag but I still need the xbox Live Passcode in order to change it. Is there a way to remove or reset the xbox Live Passcode after recovering the gamertag?

    Will deleting the profile only and recovering the gamertag allow me to change/remove the xbox Live Passcode without entering the original?
