    Returning Series X console for warranty work


    While playing games (especially series x|s enhanced games) my console is doing bad things. Its done multiple hard crashes (usually during Gears 5) where the game/console completely freezes before the system does a hard shutdown, almost like it was unplugged from the wall.

    Anyway I just talked to MS and am going to ship the console back for warranty work. The instructions say that you should "Erase your data". Obviously I don't want to leave my data on the device if I don't have to, but I also don't want to do a full reset if its going to delete any event logs or anything that might help them with the troubleshoot.

    Do I do the factory reset? Does it delete all the logs? If so, does it really matter for their troubleshooting?

    Yes!

    Select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps.

    Hello MB311,

    You can just soft reset the console!

    This will not delete your games and in the same time it will delete your credentials!

    If you are familiar with them, then you are good to go.

    We appreciate your coming to the Xbox community, you can choose to keep your games and apps, but your account will be removed, and you will need to add it again. For this follow the instructions below.

    Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

    Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

    Select Reset console.

    On the Reset your console? screen, you'll see three options:

    - Select the option to keep your games and apps so that they are not deleted, make sure you know your email and password as they will be removed from the console and you will need to add them again.

    Hi Samy,

    I did talk to LG support and they have recommended I return the TV. Is there any way to confirm that these settings should be working with the series X? Returning the TV is a pretty big hassle if those settings just don’t work with the Series X.
