Retrieving on old inactive gamertag?

Hello, I was directed by xbox support to post here to reach the Enforcement Team. I'm wondering if there is a way to get an old gamertag that has no gamerscore and has an original xbox gamerpicture? A majority of original gamertags appear to be inactive
for a long period of time and it would be so cool if people today could put those gamertags to good use! The account name I would LOVE to have is "stargaze".

Xbox and Xbox 360 are different console, that being said, you should be able to create the GT you would like to use. In terms of GT availability, you may attempt to use that GT to change to, but there is a possibility that the GT is not available. Please

There's no need to make your own forum topic in regards to this particular issue. It's good that you've changed the e-mail associated with your gamertag to one that is actually active. Please visit this page
here and read the forum post made and reply to it if you meet the requirements for the promotion.

You were given some bad information. The enforcement team does not monitor these forums any longer and you can't contact them directly. As for the old inactive gamer tag, you will not be able to use it until it is released by the system and some reports
say up to seven years after it went inactive.

In this article, Microsoft teases that they may be releasing inactive Gamertags. Is it just false hope?

"Will you be releasing old, inactive Gamertags for use on the Xbox One?

WHITTEN: We’ve released inactive gamertags in the past, but it’s been a while. Stay tuned."

The article is admittedly old, but it is from after they released inactive Gamertags the first time.

Unfortunately once a Gamertag is issued, it's not reissued. The player could be using it for other Microsoft accounts, and not an Xbox.

I know a couple of years ago Major Nelson posted on his blog that they were going to resurrect old tags but there hasn't been much talk since that time.

TMG, just for you info, you are quite wrong: even tho the original Xbox and the 360 are indeed different consoles, Gts stay in the system. I got mine in 2003 way before the 360. The OP really can't do anything about it...as pointed out, there was a statement
years ago that MS was going to free up GTS from the original Xbox era, but that was all that was said. I also know this from one simple fact: my mother, years ago, tried to renew her Gold sub, She misspelled it GT by one letter, The server took it as an
attempt to create a new GT. I immediately called and "canceled" the account, but it did not work quite the way I thought: the GT is still around. I can sign into it on this site evem now...no gamerscore, no acheivements, no games played, no friends, no nothing.
Yet it is still in the system.

The Op just needs to forget about that tag and go to another, cause once again as already said, until MS decides to purge it from the system he cannot use it.
