  1. Retrieving game data

I recently had problems with my xbox one s so I decided to buy the xbox one x. I was going to use the same external storage device because I had so many games and was really far into those games. When I plugged the device into the xbox one x, nothing popped
up or said launch. So I replugged it in and then it said launch. However I tried to play a game and it started downloading. I thought I had to format the external storage device to play the games. After I formatted the storage device, I then realized that
it deletes everything. I love video games but to be that far into the games and then they get erased really bums me out. Here are the questions. Is there a way to retrieve old data on a external storage device after it has deleted everything
or been formatted for an xbox one? Or have I just deleted everything and cannot get it back? If possible to get back the data, can I do it right on the xbox with internet? Thanks.

    :)

Sorry to say but the answer is no.

Longer answer is that 360 storage is only designed to be moved between 360 storage device. By moving the data to your PC you've essentially wiped the 'ties' between it and the console.

For the original Xbox there was a USB stick/PC programme that allowed you to copy & move game saves etc, from the console to PC and back again whenever you wanted. Can`t remember who made it though.

Shame they never did one for the 360.

You would just have to redownload the games. They should show in your Games and Apps as Ready to Install and you can redownload them from there.

I think that it's possible only if thy were also saved on the cloud; so that once you start the game it syncs the data, otherwise I'm afraid there is nothing you can do.

  6. Hey there WebbedCandle!

Sorry for the confusion concerning your games and saved data.

Since you were using the Xbox One S online, all of your progress within your games would be saved to your gamertag on Xbox Live. The only thing that the hard drive saves most times is the game program itself but none of the progress.

To put it simply, as previously posted, you just need to redownload your games. If you're signed into the right account when you boot it up, you should be back where you started. For more information on how this works, you can always check out the information

    Hope this info was helpful!

    Thanks and Peace!

Thanks for the confirmation - I suspected as much. I suppose it's too much to expect interoperability between two MS machines for the non-expert!
