Retrieve gamertag under a gmail address from 360 days?

I have searched for this on the forums and throughout the internet and cannot find a solution. I have a gamertag that was used under an old gmail address that I want to retrieve. On the xbox one, you can only use a microsoft ID to sign in. Is there any
way to transfer the gamertag to a new (or existing) microsoft account?

Do I really need to track down and buy a 360 just to do this?

Swap Gamertag from one email address/ID to another

Hi guys,

I've just bought an Xbox 360 and I need a bit of help with my Live account. Basically, I have two email addresses that have their own Gamertag; one Hotmail address and one Gmail address. Is there any way to swap the Gamertag from one email address to the
other?

The problem is that my normal email address (Hotmail) is my main Microsoft Account, but for some reason the address is set to US (I'm in the UK). This is attached to my Gamertag. So I used my Gmail address to set up another Microsoft Account, set
to the UK. I then set up a Gamertag on this.

I'd really like to use my Hotmail address for my UK Gamertag. Is this possible?

Change XBox Live Email Address or Migrate Account to New Account

My sister's fiance has an XBox live account in which he signs in using a gmail address. He thinks his gmail has been hacked and wants to change his gamertag to a live.com. Does he have to migrate his gamertag to the new account or can he go in to his account
now and change his login email from gmail to live.

If you cannot log in to commerce.microsoft.com to change the email address there then you would need to either purchase a 360 or go to a friend who has one to do the change.

I signed into the gamertag/xbox account earlier today, realised it was linked to an old hotmail address, and was trying to change the associated MS account's email from that hotmail address to my gmail address.

You don't need to worry about the yahoo is shutting down the email addresses becsue in the system it is just a username, however you can update the Alternate email address in case you need a password reset. answering your other 2 questions the answers are
YES. but a bit complicated if you want to have your gmail. The requirement for swapping MSA (login email) on gamertags:

1. The new MSA (new Microsoft Account) you wish to use cannot have gamertag on it.

2. The new MSA needs to be older than 30 days.

If you met these you are set and the MSA can be swapped. Here is how to

Now that you have a gamertag on your gmail you will be still able to do it but you will need another account that you can swap you gmail's gamertag to free up gmail. After the gmail MSA is free you can swap your gamertag from yahoo to gmail.

It does sound like you have a duplicate account.

The first thing you should do is try going through the account recovery ("forgot password") process for your duplicate Microsoft account (the one with the Gmail address).

If this succeeds, you can then add a new email address (perhaps a new Outlook.com mailbox) to that account and then delete your Gmail address from it. This will free up your Gmail address so you can add it to your primary Microsoft account (the one with
the Freeserve address). Then set your Gmail address as the primary address and remove the obsolete Freeserve address.

When that's all done, you can delete your duplicate account through the account security page (https://account.microsoft.com/security/) under "more security options".
