Retail to Digital "conversion" -- options

Hi all,

I was wondering whether Microsoft are going to ever implement any kind of Xbox One "Retail to Digital" conversion scheme. I've managed -- thanks to several holiday discount deals -- to replace all my disc copies of games with Digital ones. I pre-order or
buy on the release date every single game I own, and after the first few I bought on disc, I decided changing discs was too much of a pain in the backside. Buying Titanfall for $60 on release, then buying it again for $15.99 at Thanksgiving last year was a
good deal. I have, since, traded most of those original disc copies to recoup a little of the cost, but I'm still paying what amounts to full retail after all is said and done.

I still have some games, though, that I can't do that kind of thing with. I purchased the Destiny Collector's Edition (the one with the book) which I definitely do NOT want to trade in. However since Taken King was announced, it isn't possible to purchase
anything but the $60 Taken King Digital Collector's Edition or $80 Digital Legendary Edition -- since I already own (pre-order as DLC) Taken King, I don't really want to drop $60 just to get Destiny AND Taken King again (therefore giving me a digital license
for Destiny and TWO for Taken King).

Since the big DRM-flip-flop -- which I thought was a fantastic idea in the first place, and am now severely disappointed with the "discs need to be swapped every day" functionality -- I feel that those of us who want to purchase collector's editions of games
with little booklets, statues, tin cases etc. are being unreasonably punished with crippled functionality and the requirement to keep our discs in pristine condition, swapping them constantly. It isn't just gaming, we play a lot of Blu-Ray movies in this house,
so every time we want to watch a movie we're taking Destiny out, and when we're done with the movie we're putting Destiny back in.

If anyone from Microsoft or Bungie is paying attention, wouldn't it be a reasonable idea not to delete/force-bundle games from the catalog that people would want to purchase to get a digital license? Is there any way I could, say, send the disc (I'm keeping
the Collector's box and book!) for the original Destiny in exchange for a digital license? I think I've proven my loyalty to the franchise and to purchasing games (in general) on a regular basis (sometimes twice -- see above), bought the console Day One (for
the unique controller), I'm coming up on 6 years of Gold, take part and contribute to the Preview Program... is there any way I can purchase Destiny again without duplicating my Taken King license purchases, or at least just not for Full Retail Price (since
I've already paid that)?

Xbox One Game preorder (digital issue)

[/quote]If the pre-order bonus is specifically from a certain retailer, I can't see how they would give them this bonus. (Unless the retailer offered pre-order as an option, and would then email you a code to download the game)

Since this isn't really a support issue, the best way to get Microsoft to look into this is to create this post at
Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice so that the development team can look into something like this.
