Retail release of Dying Light delayed

The retail release of Dying Light has been delayed outside of North America, although the digital version will still arrive from January 27.

"There will be a short delay in the release of physical copies of Dying Light in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia," a statement on the game’s official Facebook page advised.

"As physical production has a longer lead time than digital there is some delay in the aforementioned territories. We will share information on the availability of physical copies as soon as it is confirmed."

The zombie survival game from the original developer of Dead Island is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One, although for retail at least, it seems we do not know when.

Game is looking pretty tasty! hopefully it won't be a big delay for the physical copy

 

From what I'm reading the UK digital release will be brought forward to the 27th rather than the 30th.

Already got mine downloaded, looking forward to this one.

 

Hopefully not delayed for too long, have it on pre-order for £39, will wait it out, digital is too costly at £55

 

Gutted, got it pre-ordered and it's at risk of running into Evolve launch time too. Could prove damaging.

 

Still a lot of rumours floating about as to why this was delayed.

As for the disc version release date, still some sites saying it's only be delayed by 1 week, others up to 3 weeks.

Something seems odd.

 

They did this with "Spiderman 2".

This allowed them to sell many more digital copies at the inflated XBox Store Marketplace price.

If there's a review embargo until release date as well then I'd say it's time to be worried.

 

Dying Light developer Techland has commented on the wait for physical copies of the game by pointing to its publisher, Warner Bros. Interactive.

"We would like to remind fans and media that Techland is responsible for developing and creating Dying Light," a company spokesperson explained in a statement passed to Eurogamer.

"The publishing and distribution of the game is not handled by us. Once we at Techland know more about how the release of the game will be coordinated, we will immediately inform everyone."

Still don't know what to believe about this, I've read so many stories about it from ...

Microsoft/Sony originally agreed not to undercut retailers with digital prices, in fact mostly their a lot higher but where some stores, especially online are selling it real cheap, Microsoft etc wanted to give the digital version a chance and have done
some sort of deal to release the digital version early, there's some mention we could see this with other titles in 2015.

Some sort of money/publishing issue with Warner Brothers.

There was issues with the disc version but that wouldn't explain why it's still being released on time in North America.

They just didn't have enough discs ready and North America got allocated the majority ....

Like I said, so many stories lol.

I've got it downloaded and paid for already and I still don't know the release date, the Xbox UK Store says the 30th, on the official websites it says global digital release on 27th, who knows lol

 

Physical copies won't be available until Feb 27th!!

Looks like you'll have to pay the extortionate digital version price if you want to play!
