Retail Discs/Play Anywhere

I recently bought a copy of Halo Wars 2 at GameStop and I was wondering if it's possible to play it on my PC as well as my console. I know I can do it with State of Decay 2 but I bought that through the Xbox store

Sadly it's not possible, to play it on PC and console by disc.

In regards to this, it is as stated above by Xbox Forums Ambassadors AWildYamiEnters &

Njal the Blue: Xbox Play Anywhere only applies to digital games. Xbox Play Anywhere games can be purchased in the Xbox Store, the
Windows Store, or via a digital code at participating retailers.

Thank being said, you would be unable to use a physical copy of your game on your console as well as your PC unless this is digital.

Play Anywhere only works if you own the game digitally. It doesn't work with discs because PCs use their own types of disc and consoles use other types of discs. Its similar to how CDs and DVDs works. You can't put a DVD in a CD player and expect
it to work, technically.
