    Resuming games turns off my console


    Normally we are supposed to be able to resume a game if we jump to another application, home or even after we turn off the console. But lately, with any game i play, when i jump back in it will jump to a black screen, messed up picture or frozen image
    and will then turn off my console automatically. This has happened with literally every single game so i know it's not isolated.

    So is there no more quit?

    One of Xbox One's coolest new features (although PS4 might have it as well) is the suspend/resume feature. The game saves automatically. But you never really need to quit out to the menu even if you turn the console off. You just turn it back on and immediately pick up where you left off without loading up the game or anything.

    Instant resume of this game hard crashes my Xbox One X

    I've only noticed this happen with this one game so far, and it's happened multiple times. Resuming this game causes the console to fully shut down, and I have to use the power button on the console to turn it back on. I have submitted a report from the
    console after it has rebooted.

    Hi there,

    if your console is set to Instant-On please change it to Energy Safe mode to see if that makes any difference.

    And if you are participating in the Xbox Insiders program, then be sure to report this information via the Report a bug option in the Insider Hub App.

    If changing to Energy Safe mode doesn't help then you can consider trying a factory reset of the console (with keeping games and apps installed) You will need to redownload your profile(s) and thus require the account credentials. Steps on how to do that

    I had the same problem with PvZ. What worked for me was turning off "Instant on", rebooting the console, re-enabling "Instant on" and turning off "Resume Games Quickly".

    Does this only happen with one game or with all the games on the console?

    Have you tried any procedures like clearing the cache and deleting games that are in quick resume?

    If you haven't tried it yet, remove the games from quick resume and then do a cache cleanup.

    Cache Xbox One

    1. Go to xbox press and hold the XBOX power button on your console for 10 seconds until it turns off

    2. Wait 10 seconds for it to turn off

    3. Wait 1 minute with it off

    4. Turn it back on

    Many thanks for that advice. It did allow me to resume my game again on the main account but as soon as I turned off the xbox and tried to resume later on, it happened again. Any idea what it may be?
