Restricting play time

The console gets the play time information from the online family settings (so the kid can't go to a friend or a different console and circumvent the play time limit, if the kid is using their own account).

Additionally, the console gets the current date and time from the Live online service. Without an online connection, the kid could simply set the console's internal clock back every few minutes, and the console would have no way to track the time to restrict
the play time.

If you need to make the console unusable, the only way to do that is to physically remove the power cord, or

lock away the controller using something like this.

Another option would be a smart outlet. If you plug the Xbox into something like this

Smart Timer , then you can set what hours power is available for the console.

Bear in mind, for this to work, your child needs to have a child account. If he has been given an adult account, then the settings will not work.
