Restoring Xbox to factory settings query?

Hello, I have another question. I reset my Xbox Series S back to factory settings & it said it had completed and went to the set up page and I shut it down as it’s going into storage and it said there was an error and reloaded the reset and within minutes was back to the set up page.

I waited a few more minutes this time before shutting down the Xbox and it shut down properly and I then turned it on again and it went to the set up page correctly.

Did I perhaps turn it off too quickly the first time around? It is now on the set up page so I presume I’ve done no lasting damage and the Xbox isn’t corrupt?

Don't worry, OnlyAlex22. If your console has an issue, it will prompt the error immediately, showing you the error code or error message before the set-up page. Since it proceeded to the setup page, the reset has been completed, and there shouldn't be a corrupted file on your console.

Yeah this is the way I have been trying and failing. I think the machine is just done. I might have to just get him a new one.

Sure, sorry I couldn't help resolve your issue!

You can factory reset by:

1) Go to System Settings > Console Settings

2) Make a note of the Console Serial number under System Info

3) Go to Memory and press Y

4) Select Format (Make sure you don't leave anything you don't want to be deleted on the console.)

5) Enter Serial Number, and you should be good!

Note: this will not delete your gamer profiles, game saves etc. So you should have no issues getting them back from the cloud. You might not need to enter your serial number, depending on the model of your console.
