Respecting Christianity

I am really getting tired of hearing our Lord's name in vain, while playing video games. Some games have characters saying "Jesus" over and over. If the game is not talking about Jesus, or praising Jesus, then there is no need to speak his name. This is
one of the 10 commandments. Im pretty open minded...google me (). It just blows my mind how 1000s of years ago, a rule was written that is currently broken, non stop. Can we stop doing it in video games PLEASE? Good dialogue can be written

Hmm... Simple reasoning shows that the underlying motives of this off-topic thread are ultimately aimed towards bashing Christianity.

I'm a pretty open minded person, I'm not religious, but then I'm not anti-religious neither, I'm of the opinion that people can believe whatever they want.

In this case though I have to say that I think if Christianity as a religion is concerned about someone "misusing the name of the Lord" then its in a worse state than I thought.

Seriously, there are far more things to be concerned about than this.

As for asking developers to stop using the lords name, isn't that going against the freedom of speech in your constitution (I assume your American).

As for saying your stupid, I'd never do that and I would hope nobody else would, Like I said everyone should be free to believe in whatever they want.

 

I wouldn't say you're stupid for having faith, but I still don't see how this can be offensive? I don't have faith or believe in any religion so I'm probably the wrong person to ask. When people say Jesus, it's more a figure of speech and nothing to do with
Jesus. I say it all the time, but don't actually think of Jesus when I say it if that makes sense.

I definitely wouldn't care what people say online during games or what the game's characters say.

This would be a matter to voice your concern directly to the game developers about. Unfortunately Microsoft wouldn't be able to assist with dialogue choices in games.

The xbox chat needs a filter system to sensor out the bad langage and swaring in the messages

 

To be honest, I think all political and religion related stuff should stay out of gaming communities as it only makes things worse.

Lets say a dev puts out a game called "Super Mahamid Bros"..... I bet that wouldnt be on Xbox! Why? Because of our respect for Muslims.

 

Im not talking about chat. Im talking about the game dialogue...written and voice acted game dialogue. Also, swearing "bad language" is not an issue with me. Words are words. The name Jesus, is not to be used in place of; damn, darn, gosh, jeesh, crap, crud,
oh, oh my, wow, dang, etc etc. Thanks.

It might be best for you to check on a games
ESRB rating before you decide to buy or play it.

 

Society has changed so much, I belieive this not to be a matter on Game Developers, but just people in general, our society. There's nothing to be done about it.

 

110% agree with you, its a shame that there isn't a filter that can recognize and filter stuff like that. We're gamers, we are here to have fun TOGETHER, there should never be stuff that divides us.
