Resolved: Unable to add friend

Last night a friend's GT disappeared from my friends list mid-game. I tried adding him back but am getting a message that xbox can't save my changes and to try again later. I've tried:

- adding through the console, app and xbox.com - didn't work

- restarted my console, and repeated the above - didn't work

- did a hard shut down and unplugged from power source for 5 min, then repeated the above - didn't work

- cleared MAC address and restarted, then repeated the above - didn't work

- I cleared persistent storage and restarted, then repeated the above - didn't work

- My friend says he didn't unfriend/block me and I still appear in his friend list. However, he does not appear in my followers list.

- I was able to add two new players to my friends list without any issues.

Still to try: have friend check his privacy settings & have him unfriend me, restart console and then we'll try again. In the meantime, any other thoughts in the collective brain on this issue? Thanks in advance!

Just a note for future documentation. We had my friend "unfriend" me on his console, we both restarted our consoles to "clear the cache" and then were able to re-add each other as friends.

Sorry to see any issues adding people to your friends list! Which gamertags are you attempting to add? It may be possible that they have you blocked, and that's why you're receiving that message. What I want to do is test out I can add them here on my professional
account. If not, we may want to dig further into what might be going on.
