resolutions reset now problems (360 vga)

On a 1920x1080 display connected with VGA, and the Xbox 360 set to 1920x1080 output, clock and phase can be adjusted with the AVS HD 709 1-pixel checkerboard pattern (Misc Patterns / D - Resolution / Checkerboard Pattern). This can be done by the auto adjustment
in the display. It's only valid for that resolution though. For resolutions other than 1920x1080, it won't work.

VGA can look great, but there is no reason to use it if HDMI or DVI-D is available. The problem with levels on the Xbox 360 affects output over all types of connection anyway, since it's in how it handles input values.

Yeah, all the cables are interchangeable/forwards/backwards compatible... my old 360 VGA cable works on my 360s (I use the VGA cable, because the monitor I play my 360s on has a weird resolution which the VGA cable can properly display... a 16:10, 1680 x
1050 image)...

as well as upscaling of DVDs to 720p or 1080p. VGA output is "HD".

im not sure about the screen resolution possibly as there is a maximum resolution you can use in vga

VGA is an analog signal. It has more dependence on physical path and the electronics that convert from digital to analog and back, but other than that it's the same as HDMI in terms of resolutions supported on the 360.



The problem is that the Industry doesn't like this analog loophole. Some TV makers do not permit full HD resolutions over VGA, others do. Panasonic doesn't (at least as of 2009). The JVC 37" LCD I just bought does as my HTPC is hooked up over VGA and running
at 1920x1080.

your better sitting on standard def settings at the moment until you can free up a HDMI port.

He's better off answering my question - what exact make and model of TV does he have? It's the TV that will determine what is supported.
