Resolution of Dashboard Lower on 4k 120hz?

I've noticed that when setting my series x to 4k 120 that the dashboard quality seems to drop abit than when on 4k 60? Also when you open the dashboard there is a brief moment where the dashboard is slightly blurred than fixes itself. Ive see this on multiple different TVs and even when I had my Xbox One X so possibly a bug with the OS?

Are you using 120Hz and 4K in your console?
Or, did you tried using a lower resolution (like 1080p or 720p) to see if the issue persist?

Why has my series X reset itself

Please share the exact model, it needs to look like this "LG 27GL850 27'' "LG 27GL850 27"

    ------
In the meantime, are you tried to use 4K + 120Hz?
If you try lowering the resolution the 120Hz option appears?

    4k 120hz not working

Thank you for contacting us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    good night

    Microsoft claims that:

"4K games with 120 frames per second are available if you have all of the following:

    an Xbox Series X console

an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable with support for HDMI 2.1

    an HDMI 2.1 compliant TV

To enable 4K games at 120Hz, press the Xbox  button to open the panel and select Profile & System > Settings > General > TV & Display Options. Make sure your Resolution is set to 4K UHD and set Refresh Rate to 120Hz.

Note If you have an Xbox Series S console or your TV does not support HDMI 2.1, you can still enable 120Hz gaming at a lower resolution. To do this, set your Refresh Rate in TV and Video Options to 120Hz. If your resolution was previously set to 4K, the console will automatically adjust the resolution to support the 120Hz refresh rate. Otherwise, select a resolution among the available options."

if you set the correct settings and not the image or it doesn't reach the 4k resolution it is not compatible to run in this resolution on the Xbox X series.

I am wondering if a asus tuf VG249Q1R can handle a 2.1 hdmi cable to run at 120fps at 1080 on Xbox series x or would I need to buy a certain cable for tye monitor to work at 120fps?

Yes, as shared above, you can use 120 Hz with the monitor you have, but as both your monitor port and screen don't support 4K, it's enough with set a lower resolution to see the 120Hz frequency.

Does Xbox automatically switch resolution and refresh rate?

    Hi,

Could you provide us with the make a model of your TV?

If your TV is only HDMI 2.0 then it won't actually natively support 120Hz. Only certain supported HDMI 2.0 monitors can run 120Hz, but are generally limited to 1440P resolution.

It's more likely your TV has a 120Hz mode purely for Motion interpolation. This can make lower frame rate video from TV and movies appear smoother. However, with games Motion interpolation will add a huge amount of display lag. Real 120Hz TV's are newer HDMI 2.1 displays.

Xbox games are always rendered at the resolution they were designed to run at. So a 4K game On a 1440P display will can run internally at 4K and is then automatically scaled to whatever resolution the display is set to.
