1. Resolution forcefully set to 480p on a 1080p tv

    I'm on an original Xbox One and had to unplug and plug in the hdmi cord, normally this does nothing but when I did this time it lowered the resolution quite a bit. It refuses to detect the original 1080p resolution.

    Xbox One s bad performance in games and graphics look really blurry

    check the display settings, is it set to 1080p, or is it somehow doing something like 480p possibly?

    HDMI Problem..

    You should not be getting resolutions listed on the 360. If you have a proper HDMI connection to the TV you should be seeing 480p/720p/1080i/1080p.

    Your TV's a 1080p model. You should be able to select 1080p.

    1440x900 on Xbox One S

    480p = 640x480

    720p/i = 1280x720

    900p = 1440x900

    1080p/i = 1920x1080

    900p TVs are a bit of an unusual bunch.

    Your Xbox One will output at either 720p or 1080p, depending on your Xbox settings. It does not support output at 900p. The TV should upscale 720p (Xbox output) to 900p (TV resolution), or downscale from 1080p (Xbox output).

    As 900p is a resolution with 16:10 aspect ratio, you will either see black bars or a stretched screen on your 900p TV, since 720/1080 resolutions are 16:9 (standard ratio for HDTV).

    Using HD VGA cable. Can't find HDTV setting.
Am I right to assume that because it am using the vga cable, there is no 1080p setting?
Correct. With VGA you'll have several resolution options, but not the more TV-centric 480p/720p/1080i/1080p. 1080p, as pointed out, is
    just another way to write 1920x1080 in most cases.

    Does 720p and 1080p make a difference on a 24"TV

    I used to have a 480p plasma and it could receive signals up to 1080p from the xbox and the resolution it would tell me on the screen said 1080p.

    Obviously the tv could not natively produce 1080p but it looked better than 720p or 480p.

    So you may see an improvement if you tell your xbox to output at 1080p (we don't know if we can tell the Xbox One not to output at 1080p).

    On a tv that is 24" the 720p v 1080p is less important than on larger tvs.

    The real question is whether 24" is large enough.
