Resident Evil 7 on Game Pass PC not allowing me to play due to not being able to create a save

For some reason Resident Evil 7 on Game Pass for my PC will not let me play. I had no issue when first booting up the game and created a save. I got to the first save point in game and had no issue creating a save.

I logged off and came back to it later and played to the point of an auto save, but the save failed.

I went to the save point to try to save manually and that also failed.

I logged out of the game to restart and it gave me a message that “No save data exists. You must create new save data to save your game and you cannot start a game without save data. Create save data?” I click yes and it says “Failed to save game” Same
issue if I choose no. It will not allow me to play the game at all.

I’m assuming that the save data is corrupt but the saves are stored in the cloud, and I do not own an Xbox One to try to delete from there. I tried to uninstall the game from game pass and reinstall, but the same issue persists.

I did create a new microsoft account for my wife and used her account and it allowed me to create a save through her account, but I would rather be on my account and I am afraid the same issue will happen again at some point and the time I spent in the
game will be lost.

Is there a way to fix this issue??? It is very frustrating! Everything is up to date on my PC also.

Thank you! This was the exact fix! Very frustrating bc I was stuck in a loop not being able to get into the main menu as I couldnt proceed without a saved file nor could I create a save point. About 1/3 of the way in and Debated abandoning the game.

I was scrolling in the microsoft xbox site wanting to watch the trailer for Resident Evil 7. It asked me to submit my birthday - in doing so, it's response it says i cannot watch the trailer. **** - i'm 50!!! Pretty sad Microsoft - Just another confirmation
for me to stick with the MUCH BETTER (in EVERY ASPECT) SONY PLAYSTATION !!!!

Thought about buying the new xbox - think i'll pass and stick with just the new Playstation. And will 'give away" all my xbox consoles, controllers, games etc. that i already have. i can't be bothered with such ****.

I had played RRESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard today for about four or five hours, then randomly the game tells me that that it 'Failed to save game' during an auto-save moment. I then back-tracked to the closest save point and found that I could not save my game,
'Failed to save game'.

I closed the game, restarted and found that my saved files had been deleted. On top of that, I couldn't load the game at all because in order to play, you need to start a new saved file/data, but of course, I continue to receive the message 'Failed to save
game', so not only did my save files magically disappear, but I cannot restart this game if I wanted to.

I tried to follow the steps and advice from people on this thread but unfortunately, it is not working for me. I really wanted to enjoy this game but I have decided to uninstall it, as all of the solutions that I have found online are not working.

I know X-Box Game Pass for PC is a cheap service that was in BETA, but the sad, unfortunate reality is that we are paying for a service that does not work.

Microsoft has absolutely zero support for this service as well, making it extremely difficult to try and troubleshoot issues, and the only way to get help is to find other players who have found and can provide solutions.
