Resetting the firmware of an Xbox One controller to factory defaults

    Hello,

Is it possible to reset the firmware version to factory defaults on an Xbox One controller? There is an issue with a software that my company has shipped that seems to stem from the controller being on the factory defaults for its hardware. I'm aware that
the firmware is automatically updated on PC if the user is on Windows 10 or uses the wireless dongle to connect to the PC. If a user is on Windows 7 and uses a micro USB to USB cable however, the update never occurs and could cause unexpected issues for our
users. To test this without needing to have a unopened Xbox One controller each time, we would need to reset the firmware.

    :)

    Hi there,

Do you have a USB cable for the controller and does your headset have an adapter with it or does it connect via 3.5mm? I recommend downloading the most recent controller firmware update while connected to the console via USB and have the headset plugged
into the controller. Open up your Xbox Accessories app then select the 3 dots option below Configure. Select Firmware version and then Update now. You can download the update even if the controller is up to date.

If that doesn't help you may need to try a soft factory reset on the operating system:

    Xbox One Controller not syncing

    Hello there,

    We recommend to do a
    soft factory reset
. This will rest the console to factory default. Odd the controller still will not sync. Also try the controller on a friend or family console. This will help determine if it is the controller or console.

    Thanks,

    Brad
