Reset Xbox One S to low screen resolution, now cannot got to 720 o 1040

I had no HDMI signal, then reboot with dual button option, and it worked.. green screen now shows. The console booted and got games/data, but not able to go back to high resolution. (just 640 option, no 720 or 1045) Upon setting changes to 720 dpi , screen
goes black/blank the goes back the 640.

Need to fix console for hight resolution, same TV being used. It is not the TV.

    :)

How do you have your Xbox One connected?

Satellite box via HDMI to One to 50 Plasma. Optical audio to home theatre from TV. The only issue I have is when I "Xbox On" and "Xbox watch TV" the screen resolution is too low. But when I change the resolution on my satellite box from 720/1080 to 1080/720
from one to the other it fixes it... Kind of weird.

Have you checked a different HDMI cable? Maybe the cable is defective and has trouble transmitting higher resolutions properly.

Have same issue, no not the TV or the cable. I tried two different HDMI cables and then on second hi-def LG TV. Second TV is where to Xbox worked under Hi resolution in the past.

All still showed no 720 or 1040 option, pls advise on next steps??

The Xbox one S works under 640, is there a program or tools I can load to reset the graphics??

    Pls advise

    Hello Tom,

Thank you for contacting Forum support!

Please try to set the HDMI to "Auto".

Then see if that works, and if it doesn't try setting it back to HDMI.

How to adjust the display settings on your Xbox One.

Please let me know if that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Have you check/changed your HDMI cable.

I had this issue last week with a PS4 Pros HDMI cable it had exactly the same symptoms. Once I got a new cable it worked fine, Just make sure is a High Speed cable that support 4K and HDR and you should be good to go again.

Hi, you can reset the display settings as follows.

    1. If there's a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.
    2. On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds to turn off the console.
    3. Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You will hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep.
DO NOT LET GO until the second beep occurs.

However I'd also check in the Xbox display output settings that you have it set to Auto detect in the Video fidelity & overscan section.

If that setting is already on Auto detect then try switching it to HDMI, then see if you can select a higher output resolution.

    Eggs,

I have done this four time now, only way I get back the the green screen and default resolution.

If I calibrate the video/TV or raise the resolution above 640, it goes black and then it needs to the the two finger rest at times. Its odd, I can try the 1040 or 700 setting then the screen goes black. After 30 second the xbox will sometimes jump
back to low resolution and other time is just stays black and then two finger reset is needed after power button recycle.

So, in low res the Xbox works with data and all past saved game data.

Any tools or games/progs to down load to test the HDMI to TV connection? Was just at the place bough the xbox, they said shipping off to MS is a four week process. That is not an option for me.

If there a factory re-set just for video?? If not, how do I backup my kids data, reset the xbox the factory and reload his games/data back to the box.

Kindly advise is you have idea, I am concerned that the two finder rest going to break the device or not work eventually.

Thanks for the response so far..

    Hey Tom,

We suggest you try the Factory Reset option that allows you to keep your games and apps:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select All Settings.
    4. Select System.
    5. Select Console info & updates.
    6. Select Reset console.
Make sure you can log back in to your account as this will remove them from your console. Your save data, achievements, online profiles, and purchased content will not be lost as they are tied to the accounts not the console. Let us know if it works!
