Reset to Factory Settings when family settings password unknown!

I hope someone can help - I am close to just binning this xbox. My son wants to set his xbox up again after a month of not playing. The family settings password is not recognised - don't know why - I have not changed it and it has worked hundreds of times
before. The security password is also incorrect - favourite food - I did not set up that one?

Anyway been through Microsoft support and the code they provied to reset the password does not work - their only suggestion is to pay £63 to fix the box. I have tried hundreds of other suggestions off the internet but nothing.

I want to reset the box and start again but once I get past the format the hard drive it does not take me to a fresh initial set up.

Is there not another way to completely rest the box with the hard buttons perhaps?

    How do I do it?

    Please help me!

    :)

    Family Sharing Reset

I tried to reset my family sharing password or setting. Anyone know how to do a factory reset?

There is no way to do a hard reset/restore settings to remove the family passcode - it defeats the purpose of it if there was a workaround (and most kids are savvy enough to find out how). The only way to do it is through Microsoft support. I suggest you
call them again and explain the situation, they should be able to get it straightened out for you.

Thanks for your advice. But I was on with Microsoft Chat for 3 hours last night. The codes they send me do not work. I have seen loads of suggestions on internet but none work. One says turn on with main controller button - while booting up keep RT & Main
xbox button pressed together - but it does not work.

I may as well just sell it on Ebay

I suggest try calling phone support instead. None of the suggestions offered online will work to reset a family code (for the reason I already mentioned), it has to be done through Microsoft support in order to "break the code".

Reset to Factory Settings when family settings password unknown!

    Yeah, contact Xbox Customer Support. For UK, that's 020 7365 9792 or 0800 587 1102.

They may ask you to register the console first. You can do it here:

    myservice.xbox.com/.../Welcome.aspx

Also, when you call them, make sure that you give out the correct serial number.

If you give them an incorrect serial number, the reset code that they will give you might be incorrect as well that's why it would not work.

    Give it a try, man.
