Reset my Xbox and now I lost progress of all my games

For the past month or so I’ve been getting the “We can’t save more data for this game or app” (code 0x80830003) on and off. It happens to all of my games, Minecraft, Monster Hunter, Roblox, Forza, etc. This error message is very confusing because I’ve checked everywhere to see what “space” is error is talking about. My Xbox still has around 330GB of internal storage. Today I tried to load up Forza and I kept getting this same error message over and over again. I scanned around and found various methods of solving this issue. After trying all of the methods that Microsoft recommends I ended up resetting my Xbox but with the “save games and apps”. After going through the process of setting up my Xbox again I loaded up some of my games to see if everything was still there. Turns out I lost all of my progress for Forza, a solid 2 week’s worth of Minecraft progress, and a good chunk of monster hunter was gone. I haven’t had success on bringing back my progress for any of my games. I’m not sure on trusting this Xbox anymore if it’s not going to save my progress. I’ve checked everywhere to see what storage it’s talking about but I haven’t found anything. After resetting the Xbox this error still pops up every now and then when I close a world on Minecraft or try logging on to monster hunter or Forza. Anything helps thanks.

Hi Angel, I’m Aileen, an independent advisor. Thanks for reaching out. I get how upsetting it is to lose your game progress, especially after trying everything.

That error (0x80830003) usually means there’s a problem with the space used specifically for saving game data, not your overall storage. Even if you have a lot of space left, your Xbox might not be able to manage save data properly.

When you reset your console but kept your games and apps, it also wiped your local save files. Normally, that’s fine, because your progress is backed up to the cloud, but if your Xbox wasn’t syncing properly before, your recent progress may not have been saved online. That’s likely why some game data is missing now.

You can try this:

Go to My games & apps, highlight the game, press the Menu button > Manage game and add-ons > then under Saved data, select your profile > choose Delete from console.

This forces the Xbox to pull the cloud version. Don’t choose Delete everywhere.

Also, make sure your Xbox is connected to the internet while doing this, since cloud saves only sync online.

If the problem keeps happening, go to Settings > Network > Advanced settings > Alternate MAC address > Clear > Restart. That helps refresh your network settings, which can affect sync.

Little bummed out I lost all my progress for my games but thank you the factory reset fixed my issue

Here's what happened, when we're resetting our console keeping games and apps it will delete all of our locally saved data.

If you're playing your games while connected to Xbox Live they should re-sync and you should be able to continue where you left off.

Now if it's not showing up on your end, we may need to re-sync them by performing a powercycle, make sure not to cancel any syncing prompt.

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

Some of them yes but even games like snow runner and gta story mode have reset

Are you playing your games while connected to Xbox Live/Network connection or offline?

Because if you're playing your games while offline, by resetting the console it will delete all local saved games.
