Reserved Gamertag

i was wondering if anyone knew about Reserved Gamertags. I'm trying to make a new name but EVERYTIME it says Reserved. I search up the name but the account doesnt exist. Anyone know what to do?

When you use spaces it finds the gamertag because MegaMaster X is the gamertag that is in use. As stated before the system does not recognize spaces. So MegaMaster X and MegaMasterX would be seen as the exact same gamertag when trying to change to it. Since
MegaMaster X is in use then MegaMasterX would show as unavailable.

so it is entirely accurate.

also in the future please check the dates on threads as bumping older threads is against the forum rules.

Hi,

Just because you cannot find the Gamertag that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It could mean it was used by someone else so it cannot be used by you for example. Once the Gamertag was used and it is not used anymore due to Gamertag change or deactivated account,
banned account etc.... Those Gamertag are not reusable. Also there are few names which are not allowed too.

I just want to get my old gamer tag back, I was pretty sure it said they'd save it for me

I'm sorry, but MegaMasterX and MegaMaster X are two different tags, and I get a different message when trying to change my tag to "MegaMaster X".

I called Xbox Support back and am hoping to get some results soon. It's not like I'm trying to take a Gamertag from someone who is actively using it at all.

If it was indeed taken by someone else, wouldn't it show up in search results for Xbox Support's internal tools or on Xbox Live?

It doesn't state that it's unavailable, just that its reserved. I was informed to ask for Enforcement's aid in this by Xbox Support directly.

There is no way to reserve gamertags, as no such specific system exists. All gamertags are on a first-come, first-serve basis. If it has already been taken, you will have to choose another name.

The only way to "reserve" a gamertag is to create a new Microsoft account with that gamertag (if you plan on starting fresh), or pay the fee to change your gamertag on your existing Microsoft account.

Gamertags are released if a user does not log on to their Microsoft account for five straight years, as that is how Microsoft purges inactive accounts from their systems. Some people may not have an Xbox profile, but they still keep their Microsoft account
active through other Microsoft services (email, Office, etc). There is no way to check the remaining time (before termination) of any given account.
