Research help

I have a crap load of trait items and Im at lvl ten for blacksmithing yet I can't research anything. Help please!!!!

I took the survey to help. This type of post is probably not allowed but I'm no mod here.

 

blacksmithing is for melee weapons and heavy armor, other items are researched at their crafting tables

 

Hey Murder4Hire, I also have a lot of Trait items, but those alone do not allow you to research the Trait.

You have to have a piece of armor that has a trait attachted to it, for example off the top of my head, you may have seen a trait saying: Increase Weapon and Spell Critical values, Increases enchantment charges etc.

In order to research a trait, you have to have either a weapon or piece of armor that already has a trait attached to it and then go to the relevant workstation, choose research, and then in that top box which has all the little icons of clothing/weapons,
scroll along until you see a number next to one. This will mean how many pieces of that particular item you can research.

By researching, you destroy the item in the process, that holds that trait. So, as this sounds very confusing as I'm writing it, here is a conclusion of what I mean:

Say you have a Rawhide Helmet with the Trait: 'Increases total Armor and Spell Resistance' (Defending: Turquoise). Because this is Medium Armor, you'd have to go to the Clothing Station and then choose Research. Scroll along to the Helmet icon, to which
you should have the number 1 next to it. Then go down to the gemstone that says 'Researchable' next to it. Choose this and it will then warn you about the item being destroyed in the process. Click Yes, and if this is your first item at that station to be
researched, it will take 6 hours. You can only research one thing at a time.

Unlocking that trait, will only apply to the piece of armor that you researched it from, so in the example above, if you unlocked the 'Increases total Armor and Spell Resistance' trait using a Helmet, you'd only be able to create that trait on another Helmet
if you have the relevant Gem (Turquoise).

Also, I'd suggest depositing all Crafting items (iron, iron ingot, rawhide, jute, wood etc) to the Bank. It frees up your inventory but you can still Create items at the station without having to remove these items from the bank

so what you're saying is you didn't know how to use the menu, shoulda said that in the fist place, it is confusing a little at first, like this forum-you almost got lost in the bite me/join me shuffle
