    Required internet connection speed for online play


    Hi, I did a search, but could not find an answer to my question.

    I'm planning on buying an Xbox One and Sea of Thieves, but I'm not sure if my internet connection will be good enough for online play.

    I have a 5,5 mbps (download) / 0,6 mbps (upload) connection. Ping is at 10ms.

    Gaming online requires a smooth connection to keep play enjoyable and online play with satellite internet will be almost impossible because of the high latency of satellite connections. Personally I don't suggest you to use DISH High Speed Internet. Your
    download speeds might be very high, but to upload data, you still need to use a phone line. Xbox Live requires that you be able to download and upload data at broadband speeds, which is why Microsoft insists on stable connections capable of high speed.

    At the following link you will find the minimum connection speed required:

    support.xbox.com/.../slow-performance-solution

    Please keep in mind that these are the minimum requirements in order for a game or app to have a “Certified” experience. The higher your connection speed, the better your experience will be.

    can I play BF3 on a 6mbs connection?

    The minimum internet speed required for playing Xbox 360 online is at least 1mbps download speed and 200 kbps upload speed. You should not have any problems.

    My internet connection speed is in MegaBits Per Second (mbps), not MB/s (the measurement used in the article in the link). So after converting to MB/s - I don't have a fast enough internet connection. Glad I found out, and thank you for the swift reply

    I would have thought your internet connection should be good enough to allow you to use an Xbox One for online play, If you have used an internet speed test website to get your figures I would advise you to try another couple of sites and also use it to
    check the figures you have been provided by the first site were accurate.
