    REQUIRE A Password for PURCHASES

    Hello.

I chatted with a Microsoft Rep a few days ago, and she told me that I could set the console to require a password before purchasing anything on the live account. (XBOX 360). However, I cannot find a option to do this. I want to let my son play his games
on line, however I want it to REQUIRE a password before he can make a purchase. Only thing I've found that comes close is to require a password to log into XBOX Live. I do NOT want him to have to type in the password to play on line, however I do WANT to
    require a password before purchasing.

    Any help is GREATLY APRRECIATED.

    Thanks.

    :)

    require password for purchases?

You can create a child account, where it needs the parents permission to do buy anything.

As far as I know the rep is wrong. There is no way to password protect purchases.

Surely the answer is to let your son have his own account and not to put any payment methods on it. No payment method equals no way to buy anything.

If you can't trust him to not go on your account then password protect it and he'll be unable to buy anything their either.

The best place to put your suggestion is on feedback.xbox.com. You have a chance of Microsoft seeing it on there.

  5. What Vaynel has said is the best option , to set up his own profile account with no payment options on and password protect yours.

Also, if he was using your account and happened to start playing in modded CoD lobbies for example, it would be your account that would get banned.

Just turn off purchases for your profile. You can change the settings yourself any time you go to make a purchase, and you can set up a password and four digit controller combination so nobody else can do the same.

1: Go to Dashboard > Settings > Privacy

2: In Privacy & Online Settings, select Customize, under Activity, select Purchase Content, and choose Blocked.

To setup password and/or a four-digit controller combination go to:

    1: Dashboard > Settings > Family

2: Select "Turn Content Controls ON"

    Follow onscreen instructions... Done.

I'm totally upset at this point. I've been trying for almost 3 WEEKS now to get the credit card information removed. I chatted with a REP for almost 2 hours, and then spoke with her on the phone for over another hour. They had to do some refunds and then
I would be called back within 24 hours to get the credit card information removed. It's now been almost 2 weeks since I talked to her. I contacted another rep today through Chat. She says she will call me back in 24-48 hours. I'm about to go ballistic.
Wipe the XBOX clean and get rid of it and just get him a PS3. At least with they don't require a credit card to play games on line.

    I am really REALLY upset.

You don't need a credit card to play online with the Xbox 360 either.

Just purchase a pre-paid card from a brick and mortar store with cash, enter the code on your 360 and then you have Gold time with no credit card used.

Here's how to remove a payment option from your Xbox Live account by using your Xbox 360 console. .

Sign in using your Xbox Live gamertag.

Go to settings and then Account.

    Select Manage Payment Options.

    Select Remove Payment Option.

Select the payment option you want to remove.

Remember that if the account has automatic renewal set to ON, then you'll need to turn that off before you can remove the credit card. You can find out how to do that behind the link Go
to My Account to cancel a membership or an auto renewal.

  9. I didn`t think you could remove any card linked to a gold subscription, whether auto renew is turned off or not.

Usually you can but sometimes It might not work. If the card can't be removed just give xbox support a call and they can remove it on there end.

  11. I add my card when I want to buy something and then remove it straight away afterwards, as to prevent impulse purchases.

The site can cause trouble when trying to do it but it's always worked on my console.

  12. Yes, i do that too, but if you buy gold with your card your couldn`t remove that card until the gold time expired, or you added another form of payment.

    Maybe that`s changed.

What you mention only happened if you had automatic renewal on, as for automatic renewal to happen you needed a payment method. Turn off auto renewal and you could remove the card no problem.

At least that's how its worked for me as long as I've had a 360.

  14. THANK YOU VAYNEL! This stuff is confusing to an old parent, and although I trust my son I don't trust when he's logged in at other people's houses...so was very happy to see I could remove my cc info without changing our profiles, lest he lose his ever-critical
reputation and such other things associated with his account!
