Request from a PC user

I know the vast majority of users here will be using the X1; I don't own one, and don't plan to because I'm happy with my gaming PC for the time being. That said Microsoft offer limited support to their own Windows platform, so here goes:

I've been playing games on a PC hooked up to my HDTV in my living room using a 360 pad for years. Between excellent native support of many games and input mappers such as Xpadder I am able to play almost any game wirelessly, and even control most basic functions:
web browsing, media playback, etc. The problem comes when it comes to text input. I have a few options: have a bulky wireless keyboard with me on the couch, or set up one of the mostly useless android based keyboard apps that require bad client apps on my
PC itself. In the end I've opted for the "get up and sit on the floor when I have to type something" approach, and quite frankly, it sucks!

Why does it suck? Because there's a beautiful device already sold for years called a chatpad which is perfect! It sits in your controller so it isn't extraneous, it doesn't require extra batteries, and it's set up in QWERTY. The problem: there's no driver
for it. Some third party ones have popped up, but they aren't great, and there's almost zero third party support if you want wireless. So bang goes that idea with 360 tech.

Now Microsoft are releasing a dongle for wireless X1 controlelr support: great! However it'd be even better if a) Microsoft made a chatpad for it, and b) made it work as a keyboard on Windows (even if I have to map it with Xpadder like I do mouse inputs
currently).

I'd imagine that Microsoft won't release a chatpad for X1 because of Smartglass, which of course is great if you're actually using an X1. If you are using a PC it's useless. "But a PC already has a keyboard attached!" you say: well true, but more and more
people are converting to the methods I've employed for years, especially with the advent of 4K TV's and so on.

I know this is really quite a specialised request, but for those who game the way I do, it would bring the whole thing together in a synergy of bliss!

Seems like a great idea but I guess the amount of people wanting it might be too low for them to invest money in putting out drivers for the chatpad.

However you can post your idea on the Xbox feedback forums
https://xbox.uservoice.com/ and it might be implemented with Windows 10 since that will support cross platform gaming and gamestreaming to pc

Hello, do you have any experience with the wired Microsoft Xbox 360 controller? I'm trying to use it with my PC (Windows 7) and having no joy.
