    Hey all,

    A lot of the posts I've been seeing here lately could be hardware failures, or they could be issues with a build (bugs / glitches / etc). Would anyone else find it useful to have an app that gives diagnostic data or that reports out on your consoles general health? I'm thinking an app that can run health tests on external / internal hard drives, gives the temperature of the console, etc.

    External hard drive help

    Hi there :)

    To add on top of what the guys suggested, you could fill the drive with zeros and thus completely wipe whatever is on the drive (if you don't need the data) and then retry the regular operation on the console. Trying with another cable is also a good thing
    to do. Do make sure to check the drive's health with a diagnostic utility from the manufacturer to verify that the drive is in good health.

    After that try formatting the drive on a PC and see if the console will recognize it then.

    3TB hard drive for media won't format

    Hey there :)

    The Xbox360 console supports external drives with sizes up to 2TB so the 3TB drive might not work with it.

    I would check the drive's health on a PC with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic and see if it's safe to use. Here's a link:

    in short, unfortunately, there is no built-in tool on Xbox consoles to directly check the health of the internal hard drive. This means you cannot run diagnostics or see specific details about the drive's condition.
