reporting messages is hit & miss even if the message contains blatant hate speech.

so I was going about my day, playing GTA online, having over 7000 hours in the game, I'm in the upper 5% of players skill wise. when a player attacks me or retaliates, they tend to get rather disgruntled as they're not able to do much. needless to say, I get 100 and 1 hateful and inflammatory messages pertaining to my playstyle. I pay no mind to them, simply report them and move on with my life, every once and a while I'll rub it in their face for the fun of it. basically what everyone does.

what I'm puzzled by, is that every once and a while, I'll report a message that should get them a 1 day comm suspension, but doesn't. even if it's (transcribed from my inbox) "shut up you -hateful language- simp" or "at least I don't play the game like a -homophobic insult- lol" or something along those lines, it doesn't get removed. I've even been called insanely racist things (I'm Turkish, and have an accent) over messages, and they still don't get removed.

GTA Online is the only game I play on Xbox, in fact it's the only thing that keeps me on the platform, as I can't transfer my account to PC. racist/homophobic/derogatory comments being able to be spewn willy nilly on the platform doesn't exactly instill confidence.

why is the reporting system so hit and miss? shouldn't it be more consistent to uphold the standards of the community?

Well the problem is that the harassment is occasionally ongoing, from the same person using multiple accounts. I tend to just ignore them but when they're interfering with my gameplay and somehow joining my sessions when I'm set to "offline" and have their account block, it doesn't exactly instill confidence in the reporting/reputation system.

I've even had it used mallicously against me once, I was defending one of my streaming friends from streamsnipers back when Mixer was a thing, and they'd report me over and over again. this was my xbox reputation page from back when it happened: https://imgur.com/a/a504k6M. I got into the "needs work" category and was stuck in the catch-22 of having to play with other non-"needs work" players and not being able to because I was in "needs work" it's a terrible system that breeds toxicity.

I emailed Xbox support about it and received a cookie-cutter response basically telling me "lmao there's nothing wrong with our system, just avoid them"

not even GTAO PC has a community as toxic as this, and every 2nd person is a modder.

I don't know, I like this game but I hate the community.

As long as you're reporting them, the enforcement team are investigating and taking the appropriate action. There's no way to know for sure when/if another person is given an enforcement action. Some things, like profanity, can have action taken immediately, but others take longer for the enforcement team to investigate.

Its hit or miss with that function.

Sometimes even with messages messages if you hit the button too slow you have to scroll to them.

Hi,

If you didn’t recieve a ban when you got the message you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. Most bans come from multiple reports or any hate speech or trolling to another user.

I understand that 1000s of messages will be received and investigated but this is a pretty blatant abusive messages so to me is a no brainer.

Problem with reporting this to law enforcement is not much they can do if it's in another country.
