Report: Xbox 360 emulation planned for Xbox One, claims Microsoft executive

Well the PS3 has a PS2 emulator that will pretty much run any PS2 game on non backwards compat slims. If there is an emulator i'd say it would be a while away.

I kept my 360 so this wouldn't really bother me, but if it's possible then why not?

Why not simply make it backwards compatible. Who came up with this emulator thing. Even if its the newer machines not the current ones or funny day one. I still think it would help Xbox sell more consoles which is critical this year. I feel sorry for
the game makers trying to market a game for under 50 million customers. I think they needed to give away a game for all day one owners also.

 

Backwards compatibility adds to the cost and right now Xbox One is having a tough time selling as it is even with all the recent price cuts.

 

They were worried nobody would buy games which is ridiculous. Now they have lost many 360 customers to playstation.

I don't believe the price is the problem w sales at all

no 3d bluray. No windows phone or PC integration. Sad move to change chat input just to get all the sales. No super HD on Netflix. Most of all no backwards comp

Because PS4 can play PS3 games...

 

I don't believe Xbox stole any playstation 3 customers when the next generation became available. But I feel Xbox lost some to playstation. That will cost millions in advertising to overcome. My hope is they make an Xbox one version 2 that is backwards
comp by this holiday or by the halo launch and dominate.

maybe they just needed to add an Xbox one app to a windows 8 PC and make the customers upgrade graphics. I always wondered why they sell hardware. Honestly Microsoft is not good at hardware. Too many bean counters I suppose

 

New SKU without Kinect, add PPC chip and rig the XB1 to run the 360 dashboard on demand. Anything less than reading the original 360 discs is a waste of time. I have 500 games here, and I have no intention of redownloading them on any BS streaming service.

 

The cloud arkham99. The cloud, no discs... I hope

 

Might not be an emulator at all. They may do it like Sony is planning, all over the cloud. Just a video stream, like Onlive does.

 

It's probably technicaly possible to emulate certain games that aren't too high end, like some the arcade downloads that don't tax the system too hard. However, if you are all expecting to be able to pop your old Xbox 360 games into your Xbox One, you'll
be very disappointed.

 

Well they did say emulator and rule out a cloud service. So...

 

If this were true and If this were to happen than i could sadly retire my 360 and finally grab me an XBOX ONE.

 

If it's a toss up between emulation or a cloud-service for BC, I choose the former.
