Report: Video Capture Card Functionality Interrupted Following Recent Update

Dear Microsoft Development Team,

I am writing to report a critical issue I have encountered with the functionality of my external video capture card when connected to my Xbox Series S console, which appears to have begun following a recent system update.

Prior to this update, I have been using my 4K USB 3.0 HDMI Video Capture Card 2.2 EUID (Model #OZC6) without issues for streaming gameplay. However, since the update was applied, connecting the capture card to the console results in a scrambled or distorted video input on the receiving device (my streaming PC). Re-plugging the device does not resolve the issue; the distorted output persists.

I have performed troubleshooting to isolate the cause. I connected the capture card to my laptop's HDMI output (configured as a second display source) to test its basic functionality. In this configuration, the capture card worked correctly, producing a clean, unscrambled video feed. This indicates that the capture card hardware itself is functioning properly. The problem specifically arises when the capture card is connected to the Xbox Series S console after the recent update.

This change has severely impacted my ability to stream, which affects my viewers and is a significant issue for someone like myself operating on a limited budget where replacing hardware is not financially feasible at this time. The device was a reliable tool for my content creation until this update.

Based on my observations and testing, the issue appears to stem from a change implemented within the console's operating system during the recent update that is interfering with how the HDMI output signal is processed or interpreted by external capture devices like mine.

This regression in functionality for external capture is a serious problem for users who rely on this capability. I urge your team to investigate this issue promptly and release a fix in a future update to restore compatibility.

you would need to contact the capture card support, they are responsible for keeping their drivers and utilities up-to-date. They are given access in the preview channel to upcoming build specifically for testing purposes

Hi there,

Thanks for your post! Natively, the GameDVR function only captures video and audio from the game being recorded. In order to get voice audio for your gameplay, you may want to consider an external audio capture device or a capture card that supports capturing
audio of these together.

I like Avermedia for capture cards. I recently got the Avermedia Live Gamer HD PCIe capture card. I think the internal PCIe capture cards are the way to go if you have a computer close to your Xbox. I don't get any delay on the computer screen or the TV
that is connected.

I checked out a lot of your YouTube channels above and a lot of you have really good quality videos with your capture cards.
