Replacement Power Supply.

I have earlier today ordered a replacment power supply for my XBOX One using the repair section of this website.

I was charged £30 for a replacement which I thought was reasonable enough as the damage to my current one was my fault after spilling a glass of coke all over it.

I have just recieved a confirmation email from Microsoft asking me to send in the broken power supply.

Is this correct, do I really need to send my coke saturated power supply to Microsoft in order to buy a replacement?

I pressumed that paying £30 for a new one would just be a case of them sending one out to me.

wondering if you got advanced replacement just on the power supply or the whole console? I have a dead power supply and they told me advanced replacement was not an option just for the power supply.

I got a replacment for a loud power supply, I just paid for it since they won't do an "Advanced Exchange" on just power supply and never got any mail about returning the bad one. It's just a purchase of a new power supply after all, but this was in the
USA.

 

Hopefully it will be the same here in the UK and that it was just a standard email for repair requests.

 

11 days later still no power supply, not even an email to tell me one has been dispatched or anything.

Very poor service from Microsoft it has to be said.

 

How much postage did you have to pay to send your old one back?

personally I don't think you should have sent the old one back if you paid £30.

I'm supposed to send my power supply off at my own expense. Which I think is wrong considering my console is under warranty. And reading threads like this has persuaded me to just use energy saving mode and put up with the noise. As if they mess up and not
send me the replacement my console will become a very expensive door stop.

 

Wezlyons, I'm afraid it's not a standard email and they really are waiting for your old power supply before shipping the new one.

I spent hours with the support trying to find an alternative since I can't ship my old power supply that I don't have anymore. They still want everyone (now even in the US) to ship the old one.

Even if you lost it, even if it was lost. Oh wait, they do have a special procedure for that (supposedly... talk about bad faith of the customer support): if your power supply is stolen, you file your case at the closest police station and they contact microsoft
to process the request.

is this how seriously Microsoft is taking care of their customers?

I never sent my old one as I presumed that it must have just been a catch all standard email.

It is quite amazing that Microsoft charge £30 for a replacement and also expect you to return the broken one as well.

At no point during the process of asking for a replacement do they tell you that you must return the broken unit first, they only tell you this after they have taken payment in a vague email that reads as though it is aimed at warranty repairs (which this
isn't as I am paying for a replacement).

Terrible customer service.
