replacement key still not ok ...

I had a 'case': lost messages containing my gears of war 1-2-3-judgement gift codes (for buying gears4)

an MS rep sent me a message, giving me my key which does not work : XBOS-3012 error ...



can you please help by giving another, working key? thank you!

That would normally indicate a region error. What's the code you're trying to redeem, which region are you located in? That information will be needed to narrow this down, as a new code will not resolve the error.

you have to live in an xbox live region and not Japan or China

And us foreign bases don't count as the US you have to use the host country

 

Hungary is the region set/seen on the xbox.com webpage (bottom left corner).
The code ... is what i got from the MS rep (Mister Cizl).

I guess I shouldn't reply the code here... so how can we do it? (I sent you a private message with the link to this thread + the code itself)

 

Is your account set for Hungary (not just the website)?

 

yep, both account and website is set to hungary (only language is english)

I guess I got USA redeem codes somehow ... not sure.

The codes are universal, so they're not region locked. It's just the games that are. As long as your account is set for Hungary and you are physically in Hungary, they should work. One thing to try is to re-enter your information at http://commerce.microsoft.com (that
will also show if your account is not set for Hungary for some reason).

Other people have also had success by using the >migration tool< even if they were in the same region.

 

The codes are universal

Language and console has to match

When we say account region you must follow the links provided as your region on your console has no bearing on your account region

 

if the codes are universal why can't I redeem it? I guess redeem should be successfull then I could not play my region locked game. This is clearly not the case It is something with the code itself.

both account and physical region is hungary. language can be set to english only, no hungarian language yet despite there is a hungarian region, officially (not a problem for me just saying).

I know the difference between xbox360 region / xbox one region / website region / store region etc - ALL set to hungary. Still the code I got does not work.

There Xbox website region has no bearing on the accounts region also

You have to follow the commerce site

And no the language cannot be set to English it can only be set tooth nationally supported language

• I think you are mixing two completely different issues
• First the codes are universal and can be redeemed on any account but what you been told many times is what you aren't getting
• The accounts region hungary
• Physical location hungary
• Language and console region hungary
• Your friend has to redeeen the codes not you
• Also two things Xbox 360 regions aren't the same as one regionsregions so maybe hungary isn't an xbox one region ms hasn't listed the new Xbox one regions lately but if you don't have hungary as an option
• If you don't live in hungary and borrowing his account which you should not be doing
• You should Msg him the codescodes

You are mixing an xbox one feature for an xbox 360 feature

Gears does check for language matching

It's one of the few games that do

Your friend if hungary isn't an one region will have to redeem it on his 360

You can't redeem it for him doing so is a violation of the terms of use

language independence is only an xbox one feature because of the language requirements on 360 games

If you are playing the disc version of gears of war 3 then no disc versions Ont have the region lock unless on dlc or Games on demand

I see that you mentioned that you're trying to redeem on a friends account. Have you verified that all of the steps provided on this thread have been followed on the account you're trying to redeem on? Please post back from the account that is experiencing
this issue so we can be able to assist further. Without the account that is trying to redeem the code, we won't have the necessary information to look into this further.
