replacement disk drive needed, where to buy?

Hi, my 3 year old decided to put 2/3 dvd's in the disk drive without my wife knowing whilst i was at work and has now broken the disk drive as it wont automatically take disks in or push them out now. How do i go about obtaining a new disk drive? or can
i get one somewhere other than Microsoft. regards IMB

XBOX 360 Slim DVD Drive Replacement

I have a question to ask about a Xbox 360 slim dvd drive. The slim plays movies ok but not game disks.Insert a game disk and it says unrecognised disk,and after pressing A on the controller it ejects the disk.If the dvd drive needs replacing, is it easy to do. I have replaced many dvd drives in home computers and have opened up the 360 slim a year ago to clean the inside of dust and stuff. Also I have a old green halo edition Xbox in the closet that had the 3 red lights flashing on the front. The dvd drive is ok I think.Can the dvd drive from the halo edition Xbox fit in the slim. If not I will just order one. Any info on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

 

Xbox Runs all games perfectly but MW3 which makes loud noise and is unreadable

Sounds like the disk is out of balance. Have you checked to see if its cracked or possibly chipped? Also,most game manufacturers have a replacement policy where you can send in a defective disk for a replacement. Check the back of the manual. BTW, if its
making that much noise it can cause wear on your CD drive causing it to fail.

 

Unfortunately, since the parts are proprietary, the only way as of now to replace a disc drive is to ship it in for repairs. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, and while there may be a possibility of "after-market" parts out there (which I don't know if
there is or not, since the console has been out less than a year), we wouldn't be able to recommend a channel like that, since it would be considered an unsupported repair.
