Replacement controller is refurbished

I bought a brand new Series X last month directly from Microsoft and it arrived with a faulty controller. I went through the replacement process, which left me without a controller for days. I received the replacement controller and it is clearly a refurbished controller. The box had been opened, the controller was covered in dust and the box had dirty brown marks in it. I have always had Playstation until this generation and never had a faulty device. I opted for Xbox this time due to the odd looking ps5 but I am really starting to regret this decision. I have tried to contact someone but this is seemingly impossible. I tried to get a call back but it continously says they are having issues. Anyone else had a similar experience?

To add insult to injury, the replacement controller has exactly the same fault- sticking right trigger

same goes from stores, they will take your faulty unit and ship it off to the repair center for repair and most likely a refurb back, been like this for years if not decades. happens with most goods like that, apart from laptops and pc's as i know they don't usually get swapped as i actually repair those, i mostly do manufacture faults for HP and other brands.

Well, it seems I have learned a valuable lesson - never buy directly from Microsoft.
