Replaced laser, dvd's work, games don't

I tried playing a regular DVD in my Xbox, but it doesn't do anything. Only discs for Xbox One work at the moment. Is there a fix for that?

There are two lasers built into the drive assembly. A red laser reads DVD's and a Blue laser reads Blu-ray discs. The laser that reads DVD's has failed. This isn't user replaceable/repairable.

The only option would be a replacement console or a console repair. No other way around it, sorry.

When you say "all other games", are these other games also DVD games, or are they BluRay disc games?

If you don't have any other Xbox 360 games, try a DVD movie disc.

If BluRay based discs work, but not DVD, then the red wavelength laser of the disc drive is broken while the blue wavelength laser still works.

Finally someone else that has the same problem! I recently replaced my DVD drive due to the "Open Tray Error". After replacing it, it started doing the same thing as yours, except that movie DVDs (such as Clean DRx Laser Lens Cleaner) work.

I had it happen to me where most of my 360 discs wouldn't work but I got the laser replaced and that sorted it. You may want to try a DVD/Bluray laser lens cleaner but you do so at your own risk.

red laser for dvd and cd blue for blue-ray, also dont replace the drive yourself as they are most likely locked to each mainboard.
