Replace email of a pre-existing xbox account with a pre-existing outlook account? Help

Your Outlook account cannot be used anymore since Outlook is also owned by Microsoft so by default, it is registered as a Microsoft/Xbox account automatically.

You can only replace the Hotmail email with an email that is not registered as an existing Microsoft account yet.

Please be informed that it's not possible to add a new Outlook email address that's already existing to another Microsoft/Xbox account. The Outlook email address you have is technically a Microsoft account. There's no way we can merge Microsoft accounts.

If you want to replace the email of your current Xbox profile, simply go to https://account.microsoft.com/ > Your info > Edit account info. There will be an option to create a new Outlook email address there. You can only add an existing email address if it's a 3rd party email address that is not currently linked to any Microsoft accounts.

Hi, you can
change the email associated withan Xbox account by adding a new email to the account and then removing the old one. Note that an existing @outlook/@live/@hotmailaccount is considered an existing Microsoft account with Microsoft/Xbox information associated
with it and therefore can't be used, even if that account has never used Xbox Live features before. You could create a new @outlook/@live account in the process of setting up the new email, or use another email from another provider that is not already linked
as an alias to a different Microsoft account. Hope this helps!

you can't change the xbox account to an existing outlook account, you would need to create a new account during the alias creation. your outlook account is already a microsoft account and therefore already has an xbox account etc.

you cant transfer accounts from one email to another.

So just to confirm, there's nothing that can be done to simply amend the email address to a pre-existing one - my only choice is to create another new account?
