Replace disc with download from store

Hallo, I know it's not possible to rip a disk, but I would like to buy a new copy digitally of call of duty ware fare.

I already have hundreds of GB installed in the game as content and packeges, and I'm curious what will happen if buy and download the digital copy. Would it then only be "a copy of the disc" it will download, and I can just leave everything on, or do I need
to clean all call of duty content first, and then download?

You can leave everything on there. If it downloads anything it would be a license for the game.

On the Xbox One, digital and physical disc games are one and the same. The data you're usually downloading is just packed on the disc. The disc is only replacing the download, as the game data is copied from the disc to your internal harddrive anyways.

However, when you get a physical disc, the disc is the digital license (something like a "Proof of Purchase"), and has to be in the drive when you want to play the game, even if it's run off the harddrive.

On the other hand: If your disc is damaged, but the security sector with the license is still readable, you can insert the disc, and download the download version from the store. But you still need the disc to "unlock" the download.

As mentioned it will be a separate download. That being said if the game is on this list you can order a replacement disc from Microsoft

You might want to try having it replaced at the store it was purchased from. There might be a problem with the disc.
