  1. Repaired Xbox has no warranty?

    Hi folks!

My Xbox One X had some hardware problems, and I've sent it in to Microsoft for a repair (pretty sure I haven't chosen any extras like advance exchange).

After a couple of days my console came back, safe and sound and with the same serial number.

BUT! - the repaired Xbox has no more warranty. The device information tells me that the "warranty is expired".

    Why?

I've bought this Xbox One X in 2018, and that's the only repair I've had requested.

It just doesn't make much sense to me: why should one loose the warranty on a device if it has to be repaired?

P.S. The Xbox support chat is absolutely awful. I've been waiting for my chat hours and hours, with 2-3 people standing in the queue before me; this same procedure day after day, to no avail. Now I try my luck with this forum.

    Greetings,

    Dima

    :)

You will have warranty from the date on your receipt (2 years if from the UK), even if the device has been replaced.

But this warranty will only be able to be fulfilled now by Microsoft, since it is no longer the product you purchased from the 3rd party store, if you bought if from one. (serial numbers will show differently).

As to the repair go through the normal warranty steps, your original receipt will still cover you.

  5. Thank you for your answer!

    You mentioned that...

but in my case that's still the same serial number.

I'll try to make this one a little more clear with two screenshots:

Really, I do understand why it's the same serial number (because "same unit repair"), but I don't get it why my Xbox One X is "out of warranty" on the one hand -- and still having "technical support plan + repair warranty" till October 2018 on the other
    hand.

I am somehow under impression that if my Xbox has any hardware issues after 11/21/18, then I'm left on my own.

Thank you for your time reading this. Repaired Xbox has no warranty? :)

Usually when you get an in warranty repair you get only 1-3 months extra warranty put on your console and the original warranty is fulfilled.

If this is against the law in your country please contact xbox support.

  7. It's against the law in my country (Germany).

I've tried to contact the support team via chat, every single time to no avail because of multiple hours of plain waiting, being 2nd or 3rd in the queue. That's why I wrote this question, with a small hope someone from Microsoft would read this.

    Repaired Xbox has no warranty?

    Hi

    https://support.xbox.com/my-account/warranty-and-service/xbox-support-terms-conditions

    17. LIMITED POST-SERVICE WARRANTY

In servicing your Microsoft Device, Microsoft warrants (1) that Service will be performed in a workmanlike manner and (2)
that all parts or products used in the Service will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for either the remainder of the term of your Microsoft-issued warranty, guarantee or extended service plan or 90 days from the date of Service, whichever
    is greater.
This post-Service warranty is an express warranty. If non-conforming Service is provided or a defect arises in a replacement part or product during the 90-day warranty period, at its option, Microsoft will: (1) repair the part or product,
using new, used or refurbished replacement parts; (2) replace the part or product with a new, used or refurbished equivalent part or product; or (3) refund your payment for the Service.

So you should have either the remainder of your original warranty period or 90 days whichever is greater. In my own experience that information you're seeing may change in a week or so, if you only just got the Xbox back from repair it can take a few days
for the warranty info to update on the website.
