Repair a control that didn't work from the first time

Ok i bought my xbox one and one of the two controllers didn't work from the first time. My question is... Can i change it if i bought it from amazon? And do i need a receive?

I already know that i have to place an order from the xbox service website, i know that i have to pay the shipping to the assistance service and that microsoft covers the send back but the two questions above is what i need to know

PD: i bought my controller and xbox about 3 months ago.

    :)

    Microsoft Mail-In Repair Didn't Work!

I was having very unique problems happening to my Xbox One S, things that I've looked up extensively and have found that my XB1's symptoms are nowhere to be found on the internet. Before I sent it in to Microsoft for a repair symptoms were:

    • After-match freezing in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (only after the match, not during)
    • More freezing when new side Xbox menu rolls out (after pressing Xbox button)
    • Xbox One turning on unexpectedly right after it has been turned off
    • In other instances, the blinking power button on the XB1 would flash on and off for extended periods of time after it was turned off (not hard reset). One time, the blinking effect lasted overnight! (a good 10 hours)

As I said, these were things that NOBODY else was having with their Xbox One S. So i sent it in to Microsoft for a repair. Maybe they could find what was wrong with it, right? I received my Xbox later with a letter that said that my Xbox was put through
"extensive hardware testing" and that they "reset the software to its original factory settings." After trying out the XB1 and reinstalling a few of my games, it felt fine - for ONE day. The symptoms started acting up again and TWO DAYS LATER, my Xbox One
has devolved to the point where it won't even project onto my TV anymore. Things keep getting worse and worse. What can I do??

    Microsoft Mail-In Repair Didn't Work!

    Hey there Roxx!

I'm sorry to hear about the issue. Is your console currently set to
    instant-on or energy-saver mode
? Also, do you currently have it plugged into a surge protector or power strip of some sort? If so, bypass that and plug it straight into the wall as the power strip can potentially cause issues with the console's operational
abilities. If you need to, you can run your console through a
    factory reset
again to start with a clean slate.

Start with that and let us know. Repair a control that didn't work from the first time :)

Fallout 76, PC, Xbox Live, 0x80070520 Something went wrong

    Hi,

1 I'm fully up to date with windows 10, (still didn't work, same error)

2 I'm fully up to date with my Nvidia and intel drivers (still didn't work, same error)

3 I've uninstalled and reinstalled the xbox app multiple times now (so it's been up to date) (still didn't work, same error)

4 I am signed in, out, changed my password, signed in again. (still didn't work, same error)

5 I've repaired the game, uninstalled the game, reinstalled the game (still didn't work, same error)

    6. Tried the removal and reinstall from the gamingservices, reinstalled the services via the link, rebooted, restarted the game, still didn't work

I've tried step 1-5 multiple times already (as indicated from the first message)

    So, still nothing.

Intermittent sound on xbox one s when playing games

can you borrow a different controller to confirm whether the problem is with the Xbox or the controller?

if it works fine on a different controller then you will need to get the controller repaired/replaced (standard warranty is 90 days but some retailers have a longer warranty if you didn't get it direct from Microsoft/Xbox)

if the problem continues with a different controller then you should set get it replaced under warranty.

    Xbox controller

Usually repairing a controller yourself is risky and not worth it. I'm not sure if sending it for repairs is smart either, if it is a special one that is. If buttons break for me I just replace the controller. The sticks or the bumpers are usually the
first to go as I play shooters for hours daily. In your case, if you have a warranty or if its a special controller, don't mess with it and send it in for exchange/repair. If it is an ordinary controller I vote to replace it, as self repair might break the
controller even further, or just not work and end up wasting your money and time. Hope this helps, sorry for the trouble! We all know what it's like to break controllers out of pure wear and tear lol!
