rep system

Does the rep system even work right? I have the same rep that I started with a year ago on the xbox one and it has not gone up at all. What am I doing wrong. Or do I just not game enough on line. Come to think of it I have played with some toll like players
and have reported them and blocked them and there rating was the same as mine. Any one else notice this.

I guess it just depends. I've given someone bad rep and their stars went up. Hah!

 

Your reputation isn't going to just go up or down over night - that's what was wrong with the reputation system on the Xbox 360 - You could just ask friends or complete strangers who've played with you to give you positive feedback and next thing you know,
everybody had 5 stars, even if they were the worst sort of people (and it would never go down to boot). With the setup on the Xbox One, this will never happen. Whether you're doing something good or bad, it can take weeks or even months to see a difference.
The bad is determined by the amount of reports your profile receives over an extended period of time (with the worst being investigated, such as cheating, account theft, etc.) and is set up in such a way that it can't be abused easily as well (such as an entire
game of players or group of friends reporting you all at once; those get lumped together into a single report). The good is simply determined by not getting said bad reports over a period of time - that's it. All you have to do is follow the Xbox Live Terms
of Use and Code of Conduct, which you can find here on this website or on your console and be friendly and respectful of others online. If you're constantly competitive, overly aggressive, rude, or even a trash-talker, these are things that can prevent you
from getting a higher reputation online and increase the chances of you being reported, blocked, or muted - all of which can potentially affect your reputation negatively (some moreso than others).

I was just wondering because I am a good player don't get reported and fallow all the rules and mine is still the same as a year ago. So maybe in another year it will move. :>

 

Technically speaking, the Xbox One hasn't been out for a full year, Michael - that won't happen until November.

What I can tell you is this: the reputation system DOES work (as evidenced by people's rep going down) and getting good rep is harder and takes longer to get than bad rep, hence why you don't really see it.

 

One thing I've heard about Xbox 1's rep system is you can't post good rep/prefer player. I get marked down on the 360 rep for quitting early and unsporting. Other areas include language and a few others on the 360 system. I'm sure M has posted a video explaining
how it works they did invest in the new rep system. I don't think that your rep should suffer tho, if someone blocks communication from you are blocks you if you want to follow them on Xbox Live. I've never followed someone using the Xbox 1's Xbox Live follower
system.

 

Well if one wants to get pick yes we are still 2 months from a year. Does the rep spate you from playing with people with bad rep? Cuz never seen any with rep more than a smidge less than mine.

 

If your rep gets lowered, you will be matched with other players of similar rep (so bad with bad and good with good). This is probably why you never really see many people with bad or really good rep - because you're not being matched with them.

Also, the rep meter doesn't move a "smidge" at all - it moves in increments, like so.

The rep system is a broken mess and isn't really indicative of a players behaviour. Everyone knows people get bad votes when they are good and kick peoples butts. There are a lot of sore losers out there.

At least MS can say that under their rep system FAQ's. IT'S NOT JUST BAD BEHAVIOR AND PEOPLE WILL EXPLOIT IT.

It doesn't matter how long it takes to go up or down. It's not accurate. Plain and simple. Never was and never will be. I wouldn't be surprised if the rep system just goes away.

 

Bran, is that a fault of the system though, or the people who try and abuse it? Systems, regardless of what kind they are, can and will always be abused in some way - it's a natural part of life and our humanity. We take the good with the bad. In this case,
though, it helps curb the bad. Think of it like a city's police force - they were charged with helping to keep the peace within their city, but they can't completely stop crime throughout the entire city because that's impossible - as a result, they can get
a lot of flack for "failing" in their duties (and please, let's not turn this into a topic about police; I'm just using this as an example). Trust me when I say that you're a lot better off having something than nothing. Besides, 1 visit to the enforcement
forums helps prove that something IS being done.
