Renewed my Subscription, however it doesn't fulfill my access to Gold.

My Brother and I have had several recurring problems before with Xbox Live a couple of days prior, where I had Xbox Live Gold however I could not play online or access several of the Xbox Live Gold features. Despite being Xbox Live Gold already, I tried
logging into a relatives account to test if it was my own Xbox that was the problem here; but to no luck it seemed as if it was only my account doing it.

So a couple of days later leading up to today at around 4PM my Brother came home from school and bought an Xbox Live Gold subscription card from the store: ASDA. He booted up his Xbox, redeemed the code and out of the blue guess what? It DID redeem, however
it did not give him the Xbox Live Gold. It's disabling him from accessing ANYTHING gold.

Let me clarify here, the issues encountered days prior to this: There was no popping up of a message saying that the Gold had to be topped up to function, no warnings, anything. It acted as if he were Gold and inhibited him from accessing anything.

Now that he actually HAS input the code and redeemed it, it's saying that he needs to redeem a code or buy Xbox Live Gold to play online, despite having already put it in several hours ago, where it's persisted even up until now.

What is happening and WHY? It's clearly an isolated account issue and not the Xbox's fault considering that he was able to use a relative's account to play online.

An extra note here is that he's using a Xbox One.

If support or staff would want to help me out that'd be great. Currently I'm not on the email that is associated to my Brother's account so the conversation or the exchange of the accounts email will have to happen in private. Such as an email itself.

Wait so you get 2 free games every month even if you stop paying for Gold??

Yeah, unless something has changed recently, you get to keep your Xbox 360 gold games.

But the Xbox One gold games you need to have an active subscription.

Games with Gold Broken!!!

Today my xbox live gold subsription ran out due to out of date billing info. I soon updated it and renewed the subscription, however when I click on games with gold it prompts to buy a subscription for xbox live gold, and I cannot access my games with gold.
Yes, I have tried multiple hard resets. Someone please help!

Have your brother try removing his profile from your Xbox One, followed by a power cycle (hold down the power button for 8-10 seconds until your Xbox One shuts off). Once you start your console back up, have your brother add his profile back and give it another
try. Let us know if Xbox Live Gold still isn't showing or if the issue has cleared up.

If you got the game through Games with Gold for XBox One then they require an active Gold subscription to play as per the FAQ here: https://support.xbox.com/en-AU/my-account/xbox-live-membership/games-with-gold-faq

Hello. Thank you for bringing this to the xbox forums. Unfortunately games with gold titles are no longer available on xbox one when you cancel your subscription. However if you decide to renew they will become available as long as
you downloaded them when they were free with gold. Feel free to check the Games with Gold FAQ for any more questions.

if the subscription to Live Gold expires or is cancelled then he would lose access to those free games until the subscription is renewed, but once renewed those games will be available.

as long as there is an active subscription that includes Live Gold it doesn't matter if it is paid with credit card, paypal, prepaid card, gift card or Microsoft Reward Points, all that matters is that it is paid for.
