Removing remaining Microsoft Funds to change gamertag email

I'm trying to change my microsoft account that's linked with my Xbox Live Gamertag, but in order to do that it says that I first need to spend the REMAINING FUNDS on my microsoft account. I have $0.57 remaining on my account. The problem is that there's
nothing on the store that costs 57 cents, so I can't change my microsoft email.

Is there any way to remove the remaining 57 cents from my account? Seeing that we can only buy fixed amounts of microsoft credit (15$, 30$ etc) I don't see the remaining funds adding up to exactly $0.00

Account transfer clarification

You can still make the change, but the funds won't carry over. It's actually mentioned on the how-to page -

support.xbox.com/.../switch-gamertag-to-different-microsoft-account

When you change to a new Microsoft account, the current funds in your original Microsoft account do not transfer to your new Microsoft account.

Microsoft unwilling/unable to delete Live ID & Gamertag

I've actually had a random gamertag (Xbox LIVE account) associated to a Hotmail/Outlook LIVE email address when I created it.

Surely you should be able to log into the new account that was created when you created the new Outlook email address.

Change the email address associated with that new account, freeing up the new Outlook email address that you created.

Change the email address of your CURRENT Xbox LIVE ID to that new Outlook email address. Doing all that while on the computer, should still have that same Outlook email assigned to your phone, ON your phone. I don't have a Windows phone but that's basically
what I had to do when it messed up on my new Windows 8 laptop.

However, with the new local currency that Microsoft has switched to, changing the LIVE ID associated with a gamertag MIGHT remove all remaining funds off the account.

You'd have to try contacting support and speak to billing to see if there's anything they can do. Otherwise, you can also make a purchase using a split payment between your remaining currency and a credit card.

To confirm: you're wanting to change the email address (Microsoft Account) associated with your Xbox Live profile?

In which case, everything remains associated with the Xbox Live profile (purchases, gamerscore, game history, friends, current subscriptions and so on), it's just the underlying MSA (Microsoft Account, the email address) which gets changed.

However, the funds remain on the old MSA so do not get transferred to your new one, so this will no longer be associated with your Xbox Live profile. The funds should remain accessible on the current/old MSA, but do no transfer across along with the Xbox
Live profile.

You cant transfer gamertag names, achievements etc. You can though, log in the Microsoft account and change the email to a new one, choosing it as primary email and removing your email from that Xbox account. The purchases, gamertag and everything remain
but your email is not linked with it anymore. So when your son will log in to his xbox account he will use his new email and not yours.

To remove that gamertag that is connected to your 'main' email (Microsoft Account), just change the connected gamertag connected to a new Microsoft account.

So first free up your 'correct' email address by moving the connected gamertag to a new Microsoft Account

and after that you should be able to change the 'email' (Microsoft Account) for your main gamertag to your 'correct' email address (Microsoft Account)
